Keep on posting Pruyen. Eventhough I don't comment much, but I do enjoy reading all these threads.

Anyway, it is great to learn about Shane's endorsement with Peak rather than some 20 million USD endorsement from Nike with Kobe or LeBron.

Shane Battier spent 14 hours today in taking commercials for China Peak Group for his Shane Battier II sneakers......from 5:00am in the morning to 19:00pm in the evening.

    Pryuen,

Thank you for posting this thread. Shane actually called me on July 5 to congratulate me on winning the Shane Battier / ServiceMaster Clean Franchise scholarship. He is a class act and deserves the fan support he gets in China.

Hopefully, I'll be able to speak to him later this month and ask him about his trip to China. It looks like he's having a great time there. I'll be sure to mention your appreciation thread here at clutchfans.

    Have a good one...

Thanks for the post... I like Battier for his hard working attitude and professionism..

I really think Battier can become a darn good politician after he retires from basketball.. :)

So after having worked very hard for the last 2 days, Shane Battier had a relatively easier day today in his last day in Beijing.

He went golfing for 3 1/2 hours with the Vice President of the China Peak Group as early as 08:00am in the morning.

He went first to the driving range to practice his tee and putt....

Then he played a 9-hole game with the VP.....

The owner of the golf course is a Rockets/Yao Ming fan, and he came out to greet Battier.

The 7-year-old niece of the owner knows to play golf already.

Shane Battier had a one-vs-one with her.......

    and he lost.

Yes, I agree. I think Shane Battier is such an outstanding person. He'd make a great politican also. He's got brains, class, character, and great communication skills.

Pryuen, is that 4M / year? or total amount?

If it's per year figure, then that's a pretty good amount. Good for Shane if that's true.

    http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2007-07-12/14003034670.shtml

After the golf outing and lunch, Shane Battier joined in a live webchat at Sina.com with the Vice President of China Peak Group.

The above is the full transcript of that web chat with fans.

I'm not prepared to translate the full transcript, except the following main points:

    • He admitted defense is very important to a basketball team. He considered himself more a defensive than an offensive player, and he likes to guard/defend against the best offensive players on the other team; and he said he best enjoyed playing defense against Kobe Bryant.
    • He said he had the verbal commitment from Rick Adelman that he will still be an integral part of the Houston Rockets, an important anchor in defense. So all previous news about his trade were just rumours.
    • He said he and Yao Ming are great team mates; he had great respect for Big Yao, and he thought he has to be amongst the top 3 superstars in NBA. And he said if not for Yao Ming he would not be this popular in China, and China Peak Group would not have signed him up.
    • On the Rockets, he thinks there will be no need to further add any players. The team will be strong enough and only requires further gelling. He is confident that the Rockets will have much better results than last season.
