-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pistons close to $10M deal with Johnson Tuesday, Jul 10, 2007 12:41 pm EDT Amir Johnson Detroit Pistons' forward Amir Johnson could re-sign as early as Wednesday. The Pistons are getting close to finalizing a three-year deal with Johnson that would pay him close to $10 million. Pistons general manager Joe Dumars has made it clear across the league that he was matching any offer for Johnson, so teams have pretty much stayed away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those who think he might be attractive to the Rockets...I wonder how many teams expressed sincere interest in the guy.
so if dumars is going to match any offers, offer the guy 3 years 12 million or even a 5 years 20 mi deal and see if dumars does match, if he does fine and they'll be even more capped out if not if amir is really what ppl are saying he is, then its a reasonable sized contract. i say call his bluff
why don't we offer him soemthing at least! I hate how it is 10 am and we have done nothing. Get guys while the getting is good.
We're 11 hours and 54 minutes into an offseason that lasts a few months. Patience. Plus, the danger of making him an offer that he accepts is that the Pistons have a while to contemplate matching the offer. During that time, we will have no way to sign anyone else and could lose out on other potential free agents if the Pistons do decide to match.
I'm all for making Detroit's life a little bit harder. Put out the MLE and let's see if Detroit takes it. Worst case, we lose out to Detroit and still keep our MLE.
