I've been checking the threads on the PF situation and it puzzles me as to why Skinner hasn't been really debated as he is an attainable guy with a great work ethic whos played under Adelman before.

His defense is top notch, and works as hard as anyone down low. He's not a plodder but yet will not give up post position easily. The two times in his career he's had regular PT (25 mins or more) he's produced. Obviously at 31, he's a bit older than the young stud we all want for the 4 spot but most likely won't get this year. He can also slide over to the 5 spot when we go small.

He's an offensive liability but not as much as people might think. I think he could put up 10 pts and 10 rebs a game if he played 30-35 mins a game, at the same time providing solid post defense, and at a price tag I'm sure we can afford.

What say you guys? He's not a superstar but he is attainable and will be a decent stopgap till nex year when we draft a real PF

I've always like Skinner, but I just don't think he is the type of long athletic PF that you can place next to a slow footed center. His defense is above average and he can play both the 4 and 5 spot.

i second this opinion. he's a hard nose rebounder, he's athletic and he's one of those people that just gets under your skin when you play against him. Plus he can play back up center.

Well maybe but might be a last resrot type thing. Dont know what his salary is but I just think we could do a little better with other realisitic options that have been discussed.

Have you ever actually seen him play, I have and Im sure i've seen more of him than you have of darko or amir. Skinner isnt a last resor type player.

Skinner is ok, but I really would like him for like a 2nd or 3rd option instead of the everyday starter.

Exactly, seems like he's always been stuck behind a real talent so he neever got a chance to be a regular unless injuries occurred. In a way, he's almost like Battier, you cant judge him by the numbers, but even if you do, they're pretty good when he has regular PT.

He seems like a Moreyball type of Player. I hope he is on the radar for the front office.

Im speaking of the ROX possiblites of acquiring a much better PF than Skinner for $$, position need, and player type.
No I havent followed Skinners career since Baylor days. I think he has been on like 3 teams in the last two years. A 20min 5pt 5reb guy thats a lil heavy to run up and down the court in the new offense just doesnt impress me.
Darko nobody has seen this guy play really until last year...played lil mins the year before and buried on bench in Detroit. Amir...buried on the bench now.

    Last Resort.... :p

brian skinner is great! ... as a guy playing 15 - 20 mpg off the bench.

10 ppg and 10 rpg? he won't touch neither.

joe smith, though he'll earn a lot more than skinner and will be much harder to get, is a better option.

plus he could play spot minutes at center and he would be the 'enforcer' on the front line

I agree. I watched him back when he was at Baylor and always thought he was decent.

    Yep. :D

Hotballa, your last line is exactly the problem. Every year it's always a big dose of stopgap. This was a deep draft and still we are pessimistic about the PF situation. Why should next year be any different?

I don't see this as any upgrade to the 2nd tier PF's already on the probable roster that we could at least develop with some PT.

    Pass.

Oh hellllllllll no. how'd he do over in Europe? I was hoping he wouldn't rear his head around back in the league. But its ok. Flyin' Ryan is a JVG type player. RA wouldn't even give this scrub half a look.

yuuchhhh ... this is exactly what I'm afraid will happen.

Thinking only about this year, rather than building a team longterm is exactly what got us in this position.
