Exactly. Drafting becomes even more important while in cap hell so teams can add cheap, quality talent. But seeing as how they hand out crappy contracts like this, I don't have much hope for them.

Gerald Wallace is the better player and would've been a better fit for Orlando. They've already got Hedo Turkuglu, so where are they going to play him now with Rashard there? It's funny, Wallace is now going to get about half the contract Rashard's getting.

Wow. Rashard Lewis getting Kobe Bryant money. I'm shocked. I still think he would have been an excellent third scorer for us, but honestly, second to third fiddle is the best role for that guy. He is not a franchise player by any stretch of the imagination - but they sure just gave him franchise player money.

They really need to get rid of the last six expansion teams - or six teams that aren't doing well financially. There are just too many teams competing for too little talent when something like this can happen.

    From SeattlePI.com
I wonder if it was Houston who would have shelled out the xtra 24 mill?

Well who nows but this is why Rashard is getting $116,000,000 over the next 6 years.

So now Seattle gets a 15 million dollar Trade Exception? Holy cow! Between them and the Warriors 10 million Trade Exception, EVERYONE is going to be calling them to facilitate 3 team trades.

Guys, how did they get this deal to work. How can you sign him for 110 million and then trade him for a 2nd round pick?

Orlando is under the cap. They can take on the additional salary.

Even more mind-blowing is the fact that a proven all star point guard and former finals MVP, Chauncey Billups was just signed for less than HALF that amount. Rashard Lewis is so borderline that even giving up Shane Battier for him is debatable, and he's making more money than Kobe?

    Dang.

This contract should be the standard when comparing over paid player contracts going forward.... Sorry but do you guys think it would have been worth giving this guy that much money? TMAC/Yao money?

This guy is getting paid KG level money. For that, he'd better be putting up KG level stats or the Magic fans will be screaming for blood.

Which makes me wonder... if the Magic have this kind of money to blow... why didn't they just go challenge for Chauncey Billups or Vince Carter.... They are definitely worth more than Rashard Lewis at fair value.

Now they won't be under the cap again until 2013 at the soonest. Rashard becomes the most untradeable player in the NBA. Good for him.

Absolutely ridiculous. I would rather give $40 million to Adonal Foyle. This is the new-era Allan Houston contract.

No question. The thing that made the Allan Houston contract so infamous is that the Knicks were bidding against themselves. And here Orlando has done the same thing.
