if i had the funds..i would get it at amazon.. (it is 500) No Tax, Free shipping..And pretty sure you can still do that 5 free movies thing you can use the money you save to buy another controller or movie
that drop still wont make people all of a sudden run over and buy PS3s- they need more games and cheaper consoles. id much rather stick with the wii
Based on what I know (number of reports, anecdotal evidence from forums, my own experiences, etc.), I'm guessing PS3s have been pretty reliable as far as electronics go (well within the 4%-5% failure rate). Unfortunately, you may just be having terrible luck when it comes to getting a working PS3. Reminds me of when I mentioned to a friend how unreliable PS2s were while Gamecubes were really solid, and he told me that his experiences were much different (PS2 quality was great, not so much for the Gamecube). If someone is really desperate, I think Sony is offering a $100 rebate if you sign up for their credit card at their Sony Style online store (instant approval IIRC). You could use that credit to buy a PS3 for $400. Not sure if I'd bother going through all that hassle, especially since I believe the rebate sometimes goes up to $150. Kind of forgot about the fact that you could sell the movies you get with the movie deal if you want a cheaper PS3 as well (with no Blu-ray movies though).
RC Cola Could you kindly elaborate on the Blu-ray movie deal (5 free Blu-rays??) that has been referred to in this thread. Could you also post a link where I could find more information regarding it. I am not sure if it would be worthwhile waiting till after Thanksgiving sales for a good package deal on the PS 3. Would like to know your opinion. Ps - Thanks for mentioning the Sony credit card as that is an excellent way for getting an additional $100 off the price.
how do u the ps3-ers play madden without the rumble? i guess if u play with the titans and run through the texans defense, you won't get hit and no need for the rumble pack anyways! hahaha
AFAIK, yes. Down to $549 (in Canadian) if I didn't get my prices mixed up. Dream34, There's a link to the offer in Invisible Fan's last post (bluraysavings.com IIRC). That has most/all the info. You can only select from their list of movies, so there are some restrictions that don't make it as good of a deal as it may sound. Still, free is free. There will probably be a lot of deals going on later in the year for sure. I saw a lot of nice deals for 360s last year, so I'm guessing we'll see the same this year for all 3 systems (or maybe just 2). To be honest though, if you do the Sony CC deal, I don't know if there will be a deal better than $400 for the system and 5 free Blu-ray movies (that deal ends at the start of October IIRC). It is strongly rumored to be making an appearance at E3. Of course, it is also being strongly rumored that Duke Nukem Forever will be making an appearance this decade.
duke was awesome. thats the first game i played someone over the modem. i beat the dude easily and then his brother was an arrogant arse and he would talk trash about how badly he could beat me. I dominated him for an hour and then he said i was cheating. hilarious anyone ever play redneck rampage? it was a funny game but for whatever reason the sound never worked. still seemed cool. especially getting all drunk and the screne would be crooked
I haven't played my Wii since beating Zelda...it's a 1 game system for me that's been collecting lots of dust. Played RE4 to death on GC so not really interested in playing through that again right away.
Didn't they settle with that company who owns the patent? I still don't get what the big deal is with a shaky controller.
Technically, they didn't settle. Sony licensed the tech, and Immersion decided to drop the lawsuit. This is only important since Microsoft had a deal with Immersion that would give them a cut of any settlement with Sony (Immersion is trying to get out of that deal). That's how I understand it anyway. I agree with you about shaky controllers though (assuming I understood your comment correctly). I played several demos and most of Resistance before I remembered that I was supposed to see how much of a difference rumble (or lack their of) meant to me. Guess it wasn't it was that important to me.
Well, if its this weekend, it'll be too late, I think the sign said prices good until 7/10/07...sorry about that, I should have mentioned that earlier...I went to the Fry's off of 635/MacArthur... What about this thing about 5 free movies?
That "5 free Blu-Ray movies" deal ain't all that great. You get the honor of picking 5 movies from this stellar Academy Award-winning list: The only decent movie of the bunch is Blazing Saddles, and I really don't have a pressing need to see that movie in HD, thank you very much. (I will admit, I never saw Babel, which was supposed to be good, so I'll put a "maybe" by that title.) Where's Casino Royale? The Fifth Element? T2? Batman Begins? 300? Pirates of the Caribbean? The Departed? C'mon, Sony, you can at least add ONE of the top sellers to the list to entice buyers. Geez.
