That's what Mobley is shooting from the 3-pt line so far this year. That is insane! Unfortunately, there's the old law of averages which means eventually Mobes' luck is gonna run out and he's going to hit one heck of a dry spell. Either that, or he's gonna continue shooting at a .789 clip.... I'm glad I hopped on the Mobes bandwagon early in his rookie year. What game was that game-winning 3?
You'd think that if you were so proud of being on that bandwagon from the beginning, you'd at least remember which game it was.
the cat's in fine form. just like Rice, i think cat's shooting percentage will increase with time as he gets over the hip injury he suffered in the pre-season, and end the form slump he is in now glad i picked him on my fantasy bball team
Cuttino has always been a great 3-point shooter. In fact he and his old teamate Tyson Wheeler still hold the URI record for 3 pointers in a game. I thinkn it was 8, but i dont remember. As far as a band waggon you would have to go back to my old Collage friend Jeff Mazer. As freshman at URI we were all into the basketball team. It took me say 2 days from when I arived on campus to become a fan, and I had Only Mett Jeff the day before. you see on the day. freshman +2, i met the whole team as they were working out in the Gym. you see Mobley was a no one, an underdog, a skinny kid. Abdul foz was the man, and there was a 7 foot center everyone was high on(he broke the backboard that day in the gym) his name was mike anderson and we all eventually grew to hate him. but mobley was just a redshirt, and he still was a skinny kid with a funny name to me. even in his 2nd season we ragged on his name. Jeff however being from Mass and knowing about his Prep team kept talking anout Mobley. it is also funny that he was on the PEP band his entire time at URI, so he really is the first guy i know of on the Mobley band wagon. I didnt stop picking on the name till i saw he could play which was mid 2nd season. his junior year he was the man, and senior year alot of you even know about. besides by that time there were funnier names to pick on like this kid name aribogue and we used to give Shabaz and shamgod hell (played for providence) onyhow, Jeff was the earliest bandwagoner i know of, i joined with pretty much all the rest of the URI community. PEACE
Yep. It was a bank shot I believe. Glad I don't have to worry about being on the bandwagon, I have been pulling the damn thing.
I think it was partially a bank shot......who cares? It is so scary to see how Cuttino has improved last season so substantially. I knew he would improve, but I didn't think the improvement would again be substantial this season, but so far.......
I looked all over for something to say whether it was or wasnt. Can not find anything. Can you prove me wrong?
I remember the shot vividly. It was not a bank shot. It'd take me a LONG time to prove it to you, so, you'll just have to take our word for it. He shot it from the top of the key, nothing but net.
As long as it went in. I guess I am thinking of a dang Moochie Norris shot... oh well. The only stuff I found said that he hit it from the top of the key. I remember the game, just though it hit some glass. Either way, Rockets won. Go Rockets!!!
Moochie Norris's game winner against the Warriors last year was a bank... http://www.clutchcity.net/game.cfm?gameID=104 Steve's half court heave last year was also pretty cool
This was a shot from last season. They are talking about a shot by Cat that won us a game in the lockout shortened season. Different season, different guy, different game.
A-train- WinkCat was talking about Cuttino's game-winning three pointer that he made at the buzzer in the lockout season of 1999. Cuttino made a three-pointer at the top of the key with no time left. Thanks for pulling up that other article... It's ALWAYS great to relive old ROCKET glories. and we're only at THE BEGINNING! Damn this is going to be a fun year.
Hopefull he is in midseason shape. I think Mobley worked on his game during the offseason....Keep it up CAT....
Thanks for the links A-Train. Speaking of good shots... Anyone remember the Clyde Drexler bank shot from half court that won it in Denver back in 1995? Calvin Murphy: "There it is, there it is, there it is!!!"
That's a great one -- but I heard it on the radio while driving home from some religious event or something. Oh man, those were good years...
Yeah that was awesome cuz I had to record that game for some reason so I got to rewind and watch that shot over and over and over. I think it was only from about 35 though. I love after about the 3rd "there it is" when it goes in and they both just yell out in unison. That was awesome. Cat's shot was not a bank shot, and I don't think it was with no time remaining, just very little left.
