We have been waiting for this day to arrive and I was wondering just what our members are expecting form the Rockets Management:- Will there be any trades? Will there be any free agent signings? Wiil Morey surprise us with a significant player?
I am expecting a trade. But, I am holding my reservation to the degree of impact it could hold. I know that making this type of trade in the NBA isn't easy when there is a big help wanted sign in the front lawn. "Ehhh, the Rockets are ultra thin at power forward and extra stacked at point guard" So, based on this, I expect teams to play games with the Rockets. It seems like getting fair market value for the trading assets the Rockets have will be the big hold up. If there is a hold up. Sura's contract, V-Span's contract, Snyder's contract, Luther Head, Raefer Alston, Steve Novak, John Lucas, and maybe ever the Israeli player's rights. FAIR MARKET VALUE!!! That's all we need.
Agree wholeheartedly with Tonaaayyy. We don't have the hot commodities. NOTHING HAPPENS TUESDAY. BOOK IT.
Most likely no trade will go down until late August at the earliest. The Rockets will patiently wait as other teams overpay for mediocre talent, then look to dump salary later in the summer. No one is going to want to do a salary dump so early in the free agency period. Just be patient.
Let me rephrase. Some teams might want to dump salary to gain cap space to pursue free agents. However, the chances of the Rockets getting maximum value so early in the free agency period is unlikely, unless some team gets really "hot to trot" to clear space ASAP at any cost.
Battier + Tmac for Kobe! No way. But then again, i'll make a little exception! Morey, we love you man!
I really think that we will watch all the good players get traded and then eventually we will pick up some old scrubs. I really don't think we will make a huge trade but I hope I am wrong
Just listing the "keep and go" at this moment: Tmac, Yao, Battier, James, Bonzi, Hayes, Mutombo, Brooks, Novak, Landry... (10 ppl) Alston, Head, Sura, Snyder, Lucas, Vspan and Justin Reed... (7 ppl)
You hit the nail on the head . I think we better to be prepared for playing the waiting game. Like getting a bargain on Bonzi last year (to bad it didn't work out for last year, maybe he will this year) When the price is right we will deal but not untill then.
i actually like alston, snyder and head but without them i dont see us having enough peices to trade for a decent PF, so if they are traded, i dont mind trading them but only as long as we can get a very decent PF, my worst nightmare is to trade any of those 3 in a package (or even battier ) for a crappy PF, i dunno, i still dont trust morey.... i think we definitely need a blockbuster trade, but i hope we can rob someone, and offload trash like reed, lucas and vpsan who will have no hope of being able to contribute anything this year. vspan might turn out decent given the minutes, but the thing is his a PG, and sucked majorly as SG, so saying alston gets traded, that puts him behind MJ still, and from the mancrush that coach A and morey have on brooks, i think they'd want to be giving him minutes as well to develope him ASAP, leaving not much minutes for vpsan, once again. and morey has been trying strongly to bring vspan back, saying he loves his slashing ability, but i think he just wants to convince him to come back so he can ship his ass off to another team, and if its in a packaged deal for a great PF im all for it, send the cry baby off! but yeh, i really hope the STAY list does stay, and im hoping for blockbuster trade ASAP, but i doubt it wil be on the 11th, have to lure vspan back first, then trade his ass in a package
I doubt the Rockets will do anything on that day. On the other hand, no one saw Aaron Brooks selection coming.... They want to make a trade first and then use MLE money. So, they may wait a bit to later in July/August to make the trade after teams have made use of their MLE and have unbalanced rosters. Then the Rockets make their trade and scoop up a bargin free agent. That's my prediction.
The problem is that the bargain Free Agent isn't likely to be the permanent solution. If we are going to fix this situation and get the right player to develop with Yao Ming then we must be prepared to pay for it and possibly use Battier as part of the trade.
I'm not disappointed if nothing happens on Wednesday. I'm only disappointed if a bad move is made. I'm perfectly fine with Morey taking time to weigh his options and wait out the market so long as the end result is positive.
