Unfortunately it was a draw. Tito held on to the fence late in the second round that cost him a point.
Spoiler UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk (35-2-1) vs. Hermes Franca (19-5) Sherk by decision after 5 rounds. Nice fight, got boring after round 3 though. Sherk is the most conditioned athlete I've ever seen. He wasn't even winded in the post fight interview after 25 minutes of fighting. UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (18-4) vs. Nate Marquardt (28-6-1): Silva in the second round. Love watching this kid fight. He blesses the eyes. Light-heavyweight Tito "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Ortiz (16-5) vs. Rashad Evans (15-0): Draw. Tito grabbed the fence in round two after being warned and it cost him the fight. He looked uninterested the whole time and Rashard did ****. Heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (29-4-1) vs. Heath Herring (27-12-1): Herring had this fight won after a nasty head kick but decided not to pounce, and didn't even go after Antonio in the second round when Nogueria was still trying to find his legs. Just Stoopid! Lightweight Kenny Florian (8-3) vs. Alvin Robinson (9-1): Florian TKO in the second I think. I kind of quit watching. The following fights were not shown- Light-heavyweight Stephan Bonnar (12-4) vs. Mike Nickels (5-1): Lightweight Jorge Gurgel (13-2) vs. Diego Saraiva (9-4-1): Welterweight Chris Lytle (32-14-4) vs. Jason Gilliam (11-1): Lightweight Frankie Edgar (6-0) vs. Mark Bocek (4-0): Not worth the cash tonight in my opinion. Didn't live up to the hype, at all.
Sherk's reign as lightweight champ will be over once The Fireball Kid comes to the UFC. doesnt matter who has the UFC heavyweight belt cause that belongs to Fedor. UFC needs a featherweight division. sign Kid Yamamoto and Urijah Faber so i can see Kid obliterate faber.
Draws are gay........... This is exactly why I would rather watch boxing. Tito "get em to the ground because my hands don't work" Ortiz is an asshat. He would rather get you to the ground and choke you than put some hands on you. I hate hugging and your hugging is minimal in boxing.
Boxing is dead. Lets just get that out of the way. I think it is funny and ironic how I posted the spread of Herring +400 and then he basically threw the fight in the first round. He had Minotauro knocked out but basically just got off of him and let him get back up. It was almost like Herring had a conversation with some mobster bookies before the fight. I had flashbacks of Snatch. And of the movie, too.
LOL, it's amazing that boxing is dead and still selling out arenas and millions of PPV buys per year.......It's amazing how dead the sport as been. In fact boxing has been pronounced dead so many times by now it's basically undead. It's like a zombie vampire ghost sport that uses demonic powers to force it to become popular among its fans, except for 18-35 year old american male internet users who are also newly minted MMA fans, who have the capacity to resist its ghoulish charms! I think it comes from DL'ing p*rn.
It's nice to see you old guys holding up the flag, but bear in mind that the proclamation that boxing is dead was coming from a guy who grew up a Golden Glove fighter and tried to make a living out of it. Also, the assumption that I am a newly minted MMA fan is incorrect. I actually am not a huge fan of the UFC style of fight. I'm an old school, underground Vale Tudo fan. I was a guy who knew the life story of Mark Kerr, before his documentary. The reason I say boxing is dead is because I bought the De La Hoya fight and the Liddell Rampage fight one right after the other. I sent out an email at work inviting anyone to come over for each viewing party. There were four at the De La Hoya fight and I think they just wanted to drink beer. There were about fifty at the UFC fight. About half of them were women. It is just way more entertaining.
I'm agreeing with you that Boxing is dead. It's so dead that it keeps selling out arenas around the world. Dead, dead dead. Poor Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Vitaly Klitschko, Manny Pacquiao, who can't walk down the street in their home countries without being attacked as living zombies.
The UFC owns the WEC, so I doubt they add the featherweight division anytime soon. I agree that Fedor is the baddest man on the planet, and I really want to see him destroy Tim Sylvia in his debut and then destroy Couture or Gonzaga after that. Gomi is a bad man, and I think Sherk is boring to watch fight, but he's only been decisioned by GSP and Hughes. Gomi got beat by Nick Diaz, who Sherk dominated. I think BJ Penn will stop Sherk though.
anyone know where i can see this at? it up on torrents yet? my friend who was getting it bailed last second and didnt get it.
You know, it's come to a point after seeing people like CroCop fall to "who?" that I have to say that even Fedor could get dropped. Blasphemy? Probably. But I stand by it... I never thought Anderson Silva would destroy Rich Franklin, I never thought GSP would lose to Matt Serra, and hell, Minotauro damn-near lost to a guy he's beaten twice already in Herring. Anything can happen, and it happens quickly. I love me some MMA.
Boxing sure didn't sell out my living room. And the Liddell Rampage fight destroyed the De La Hoya fight in terms of PPV buys. The people going to boxing matches all over the world and the people who were kids and teens growing up when boxing was great. When these people are dead, boxing will be dead. Boxing is like an old computer program that worked well and did what it was supposed to, like DOS, but Windows is now starting to catch on and people will soon no longer need DOS. Boxing and MMA are essentially the same concept - people fighting. One has more holds barred than the other, a lot more, and people like fewer holds barred for the sake of entertainment. If people got what they wanted, it would be like the old gladiator days of Rome. ---- And about Fedor, Fedor won't lose unless he keeps fighting past 37-38 years of age. And that won't happen because Robots don't age.
