www.bernies.bz Don't ask me why they got bz for an extension, but it is an alright place. Kinda gets overrun by "industry" folk about 10:30 or 11 so you have about 30 people in white shirts and black pants drinking their sorrows away in their mid-20s angst. At that point there is so much cigarette smoke in there that if a fire broke out, I doubt anyone would notice. But it is an alright hang out with a friendly staff and good food. The only thing I would change about the place is adding a lil more variety on the jukebox and maybe getting a bit more walking room near the bar. It gets awfully crowded in there.
Cool Beans. It's just up the street from my apartment. And seeing as it's my favorite bar in Denton, that makes things extra good. When I'm at home, it's probably Baker Street Pub. But if I'm going to an English pub, I prefer Firkin & Phoenix. And over all else, I prefer the Mezzanine Lounge. Go Dynamo. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=77056963
Brownstone Tavern. Its a UT Alum bar and one of the few places in Chicago you can consistently catch Stros/Rox games (as well as Texas college sports).
I live within the walking distance of Velvet Melvin and Beer Cellar. Velvet Melvin used to be a lot better, but they do have good specials on Thursdays. It's nice to not have to drive when I really need a drink.
This is right across from the loft I just bought in East Austin. Haven't been there yet though: http://www.peacock-austin.com/index.html http://www.myspace.com/peacockaustin
i've been there. Port A has some sweet bars that are hidden from the normal tourists. cool beans is ok, i prefer lucky lou's when i'm in denton.
Back in Austin, I live next door to Doc's on South Congress. Really good patio for when the weather's sunny. From what I hear, they haven't had too many of those lately down there.
That's one of the best c0ke bars in Austin. Congratulations... The first time I was at the Peacock, it was full of lipstick lesbians. My wife and I were totally diggin' the scene. About an hour before closing time, the ONE...fat...bulldyke in the entire bar invited the two of us back to her house to enjoy her recently installed marble jacuzzi. Just our luck...
Ernie's on Banks. I could walk there, but I've always just driven there. The upstairs is a good place to watch a ballgame, even though there is some Cubs paraphanalia on the walls.
