Looking down the road a bit, what are the chances the Rockets sign Grant Hill next year as a free agent? It seems like they'd have enough cap room. I don't know about you, but I'd like to see a stronger presence at at the SF spot.
Have you ever thought WE HAVE NO CAP SPACE EITHER????? I like to see someone better at SF too but we can't afford Hill right now until Dream retires.
We can get anyone we want when Hakeem retires. But we wont get any big free agents this year. I wish all these free agents like hill, duncan, mgrady, grant would of been free agents when hakeem would of retired. [This message has been edited by Francis3 (edited January 15, 2000).]
It would have been great if all those guys were free agents when Hakeem retires, but unfortunately, they are not. But the NBA has a ton of good people. There's bound to be a lot of good free agents when Hakeem retires. And they don't all have to be superstars either. We could just get a couple of pretty good role players.
Considering the bumper crop of free agents about to hit the market, I'd seriously consider Hakeem's offer to retire a year early by paying out his contract in advance. Of course, this only seems rational if Dream's paid-out contract doesn't count against next year's salary cap. I suppose most of this speculation should wait until we see how Dream meshes with the entirly new team he left the day after Thanksgiving.
Hasn't anyone here ever heard of a sign-and-trade? We need to convince Grant Hill that Houston is the place to be. Then he tells the Pistons to trade him to Houston, or else he will leave them with nothing. Remember this offseason when the Suns signed Penny Hardaway even though they had no cap space left? Same thing.
