Business my azz. Yi's behavior would only destroy his image and bring negative effects to his career both professional and business wise.

Yeah, I saw that this morning, but can't understand it. I don't see how they could hold any rights on him after his contract expires. Maybe I'll ask on his blog.

In any case, for the Rockets to spitefully withold a FIBA transfer for Spanoulis would be a lot like the threat we perceived from the Chinese government when it wasn't clear that they'd really allow Yao to play in the NBA. Even the Communists have more moral scruples than that. If the Rockets did that, they'd be the most petty organization in sports.

I didn't know that. This gives a clearer understanding of the situation.

Feigen's latest blog is pretty much right on the money......

Surprisingly cause I normally don't like what he writes....Seeing as he was one of the people that spoke to Span yesterday I think he can make a better judgement...

Y'all should read it.... Cause although I'm disappointed too this didnt work out I think there's way too much hate for him in here....

My only criticism on Feigen's article is the comparison with Yao since their family situations were very different....

The contract does not expire, it is a viable contract that has just not been fulfilled.

In other words, he signed to play for 2 years.....if he only plays one year there is still another year left to fulfill, and it does not have to be a subsequent year.......

So, he could sit out 10 years and the Rockets are still holding the rights to the next year of his contract......

The Rockets should do whatever is best for the organization, and simply letting Billy out of his contract is NOT what is best for the organization.

He is an asset....he signed the deal....no one held a gun to his head......

The Rockets can not simply let him go, it would set a HORRIBLE precedent.

    Head ...Nail...Hit....

I'm sure that the Rox would love to be able to shake hands with Span, Sorry this didnt work out from both sides , break the contract without any financial difficulties....

I'm sure Span would love it if things could happen this way too and he is more than willing to not only waive any money owed to him but pay back the rockets original buyout because he really does not have anything against teh team...

But the precedent would be terrible without a special clause.....That way ANY athlete would be able to break a contract and do whatever he wants.... And it would have to work both ways....

It really is a very tricky situation and I'm curious as to how it will be resolved since the resolution will have a great impact regarding the way trades and signings of european players are handled....

One more thing, the Rockets actually control the next 2 years of V-Span's career.

This year is guaranteed, and the next year is a team option, so they hold all the leverage.

Personally, if they can't work out a trade where his contract can be used in conjunction with Sura's etc to get us a PF, then I hope they play hard ball and force him to come over.

What I do find funny is that people think this is a unique situation, there are several cases of players holding out for their own benefit......in all sports.

V-Span is just playing the game hoping to get what he wants......but the problem is that the Rockets hold all the cards......

Morey needs to do whatever he feels is in the best interest....either make him come back to Houston and try to play or trade his contract.

But, do NOT release him.....IMO, that would show weakness...

If Mickey D's made proper foie gras, I might actually eat there, I think you have inspired my meal for tonight Sam.....off to a good Steakhouse for some wine and dining....YUMMY !

T'would appear that young Spanoulis learned a thing or two about quitting from Bonzi Wells' little act last season...

I could hardly imagine VSpan would be made nearly as unhappy if Rick Adelman were his rookie year coach in NBA.

One man's grumpiness begets another man's disgruntlement.

Wow, are people still trying to blame JVG even after what Vagina Spoonolose said? I guess JVG gets the blame for Vagina not being able to "survive" in the states as a millionaire. Vagina himself said it was more than JVG, not even a coaching change and calls from players and management could change his mind.

You guys act like VSpan is the first Euro to come over here and sit on the bench for a year. News flash, many have come and gone. Most have paid their dues on the bench in their early years and they were able to "survive". JVG is not the devil. Stop blaming him for something he has no control. Is it JVG's fault that Vagina is not man enough the NBA grind and American culture? Well, if millions and millions of much more less fortunate people can come here and "survive", I don't see why a millionaire athlete can't do the same.

    Sorry, no remorse for Vagina-Span.

I'm liking the cap space we get, and the establishment of our PG's on the roster which should be MJ/Rafer/Brooks (3 in that order and one PG that we possibly we could grab in a pinch in the developmental league). v-Sham now HAS to be thrown in with JL3, Snyder, a draft pick(s) and (reluctantly) Head, who I'd like to keep for his high 3pt shooting % and bench scoring punch strictly at the 2 with Snyder presumably traded in the team's attempt to sign a starting 4. Head could go in a deal for a 4 instead of Snyder if it's determined that Snyder's style is more uptempo and his ability to slash, play defense and attack the basket is valued over Head's shooting from beyond the arc.

I think this means we now must keep Rafer which isn't a bad thing because we now have 2 pure PG's in Rafer and Brooks, and Rafer does have the ability to push the rock although that skill wasn't displayed under JVG's half court offense.

V-Sham's stance about not playing here (I don't buy he wouldn't play for a team that gave him PT and was coach friendly) would now suggest that Snyder or Head would HAVE to be a part of a pkg for a really effective 4 especially with Bonzi presumably in shape and MJ's ability to play the 1 and 2. An effective 4 in the Rocket's new scheme needn't be a big name PF but one who is more of a traditional 4 with rebounding, defense and shot blocking their primary strengths, decent mid range shot, along with athleticism.

Our log jam at the 1 is now cleared up and the potential Rocket's players to be traded is better defined now which is a plus. The impact on our cap with V-Sham leaving appears to be established which is a plus and now our focus is only on the 4 starter and not what to do with the glut at the one and who to cut or keep at the 1. Lots of positives with V- Sham running back to mama.... :p

I don't know if anybody really cares anymore but the latest from Spanoulis as he stated to the greek newspaper GOAL (www.goalday.gr) is that '' i wanted to speak out so everybody knew the truth. i'm a little disappointed at the american journalists especially because they kept writing that the rockets had no idea what my intentions were, but even if they didn't now they do. I'm a fighter and a dog when i'm not doing something well, but when others don't care i lose interest ( don't feel in a good mood ).It's not going to be easy for me to get out of the contract though so i have to wait''.

The venom on this BBS is blowing my mind. I'm disappointed, and have publicly stated that, and have pointed out that what he's doing is bad for himself, the Rockets, and everyone else.

But, to call him names and twist what has happened into venom should be beneath us. As Rocket fans, we should show a little more class.

I wanted him back, to stop blameshifting, making excuses, and take responsibility for his actions, pursue excellence, perhaps overcome this whole thing, and still be an asset. But, when this level of venom is heard, whatever challenge to step up and do what's right will not be heard. All he'll see and hear is the hate.

This is a sad situation, irregardless of its irritation.
