I was wanting to look into pricing the 360 core system. Any other places besides Sam's offer special bundle packs? I already have a wireless controller so having one in the bundle isnt important to me. I need:

    360 Core
    12 Mo Xbox Live

Actually thats all I NEED, and if a good game is in the bundle then wonderful.

I thought if you wanted to play on live you needed a hard drive.

You can't use a wireless controller with the core system.

I was always under the impression that it couldn't, but then again, that wouldn't make much sense. I stand corrected

Anyways, according to some rumors, they are dropping the core system price to 200 bucks. Might want to wait a little bit.

My job last week was to oversee the testing of about 1000 360s.

Trust me, You can use the wireless on a core system.

Also one of our testers found a modded 360. Pretty friggin sweet.

I work for a company that resells Best Buy returned merchandise on ebay.

We have to test all of it that comes in.

360's are the most common thing we see. Thousands of those things are getting returned.

    Mostly Red Rings of Death.

cool. didnt know if you meant post production testing or refurbished kinds. If it was the former i think you'd be getting death threats with the amount of 360's crashing

you can always get a hard drive later. I think it's at 180$.

Also gamestop sells refurbished 360s (which is what you'll get anyway if your new 360 gets the red ring) for $240. As long as you have the warranty, i don't think it matters.

Anyone here work at Sam's Club or any other electronic store that could lend me their Employee discount? My skinny wallet is being choked by looking at normal retails on the 360 premium.

I might be buying one of these pieces for EA football... Whats the deal with the red rings of death? Are the newest batches safe? Or is it still a running problem? I hear 30% of these things die. With my luck Id be screwed in no time. Man I hope EA gets their PS3 problems fixed.

I don't think it could be anywhere close to a 30% failure rate. That seems like a recall point.

There does seem to be a real hardware problem that you need to protect yourself against. You have at least a year warranty from microsoft. I would look for another year from another retailer. It might be worth the extra money. My first xbox got the RRoD but I had moded it so I could do nothing with the warranty and had to buy another. It sucked.

About the EA thing: RC mentioned it in another thread. It's just not the priority of Sony. They know they aren't going to move anymore units with a better quality Madden. People are going to buy madden regardless. What ever impact it has, they must feel it will be outweighed by their 1st party software and firmware updates. With issues like Halo 3, media downloads, blu-ray,MGS,GearsofWar,Haze,NinjaGaiden, etc; I doubt the deciding factor for a consumer between the PS3 and 360 is going to be the framerate in Madden 08.
