Can someone please explain to me why every single one of us and the Chronicle included, is wasting their time covering a 2nd player that played limited basketball in his lifetime?

I don't know what fascination people have with this guy? I mean we have cut dozens of players over the years who have just never made it. With all due respect Vassilis Spanoulis is not a major asset or integeral part of this team. We only signed him because that's what desperate teams do. Any other quality team in the league would have never brought this guy over because for the simple fact that he has a attitude problem and arrogance to his demeanor.

Seriously there is difference between being confident and cocky and being self-obsessed and calling yourself the Tracy McGrady of Greece. That was a early red flag that this man suffers from delusion and perhaps has a large ego.

Anyway I'm not going to pollute my time anymore discussing this guy but I will
say this much; if he wants to play in Greece then fine give us a full refund of our money and happily walk away otherwise shut up and wait for your turn to be spoken to.

Spanoulis is doing us all a favor. By quitting he will:

Give the Rockets another trade asset.

Give more talented players on the roster more time on the court.

Give this board a break from his fan club.

Ohhh, so I guess it's normal to get your mom to call for you at that age also..... My mistake, but no offense, that doesn't make him any less of a p***y

What the **** are you talking about? Yes, it is childish, there's no doubt about that. Yes, I would go to Europe for $1.8 million starting out. No, my mom would not call, I wouldn't let her for the sake of me being a p***y. And no, he wasn't vague, THIS TIME. Where has this been the last two months, he had to wait until now to say something? SHUT UP MRS. SPANOULIS, YOUR SON SUCKS ASS

I was one of those fans and I thought this guy could give the team toughness. Turns out I was way off on that one. JVG ruined this guy for life! He could have been the Greek T-mac. :D

I knew it from the beginning that Vspan was nothing good. It's kind of funny how a BUNCH of people here thought he was hot sh*t.

What a crybaby p***y. Can't adjust? Give me 1.8 million a year and I'll adjust real fast. Look at all the international players thriving in the NBA.

Get out of here Vspan. Go cry to your mother. I hope we never hear from you again you big waste.

    Hey...just heard about this....

Nothing in the greek press yet (other than a translation of the original US article posted here on one website)...

I'm really disappointed with how this turned out...Really wanted Span to stick around.....

Dunno if the angle they're pushing is real but Greek press had reported he was having trouble adjusting to the US lifestyle ages ago (he mentions it in one of his early blogs...) pre-JVG incident so it could very well be true....

As far as the whole difficulty adjusting...It's a very different culture....I don't expect that it's understandable....But being greek (and having no trouble adjusting...lived 8 years in London and considering moving abroad again), I know what it's like...I can understand how some greek people (especiually ones that did not grow up in athens) might feel and think....

To me it's understandable... Also if he's being honest about all this and has told the rockets what's up I can see how his frustration would lead to something like this. I'm guessing that if he's willing to pay back his original buy out, he is also gonna agree to a 0$ buyout and be done with it.....

Not saying it's all true cause I wouldnt know but I still think some people on this board are overreacting...Yes some of you would have no problem adjusting but guess what...I'm sure you know people that couldnt...guess what, basketball players are human just like everyone else and have different mentalities, cultures, limits and ways of seeing things.... It sucks that this happened but we surely shouldnt judge him by what we would do ...

One thing's for sure...The Panathinaikos vs Rockets game in october is gonna be VERY interesting....

so sorry, for him not playing more minutes and making the adjustment in time

he's got skills, a promising championship caliber player IMHO

best way to prove VGD was wrong is by flourishing under Adelman

so sorry, for him not taking the challenge and show ppl what you really can do

a Greek adapting to US culture can be more difficult than a Chinese player? i really doubt...

Even worse...Knowing greek mothers, she would probably wouldnt adjust at all and would drag him down with her....He was better off by himself...

He left a girlfriend behind too btw...
