I guess Jones Sodas started something. My local grocery store is now stocking Mexican Coke in 12 oz bottles and Original Dr. Pepper in 16 oz cans - both sweetened with pure cane sugar. No guvmint-subsidized cheap sweetener in these, they are sweetened the way they should be. Even though I had completely converted to Diet Coke, I bought a case of the Original Dr. Pepper. So, so, so good.
I believe Dr. Pepper has been doing this for a long time although I think it was only sold in certain areas.
they use real sugar instead of corn syrup. it is a true revelation which really highlights how bad corn syrup really is. side by side, there is no comparison. i drink about 2-3 sodas a week, but when im in mexico i drink the poop out of coke. i usually drink water w/ meals, but for me coke and mexican food is a match made in heaven. mexican coke is awesome, but manzana lift verde is the best apple soda you will ever have!
Mexican Coke is better, for sure, but I can't stand cans... would love to get original DP in a bottle with the real thing, sugar. There IS a difference in taste.
When I lived in Singapore I had to make sure to buy the Dr. Pepper bottled in America and not the ones bottled in China. Chinese Dr. Pepper tastes like ass. I wonder if they use corn syrup instead of sugar.
so, anybody knows different areas in houston where i can find some Mexican coke and original dr. pepper?
actually corn syrup isnt too bad, but what you are talking about is known as high-fructose corn syrup. It is basically sugar that is highly altered by different enzymes and stuff to make it cheaper and sweeter, and it is an extremely un-natural thing to put in the body. Everyone should look it up. That being said, I love coke!
as far as i know, you can buy sugar-sweetened dr. pepper online. it's only made in one plant in the US (as of about 6 months ago when my roommate bought a few cases)
I bought a sugar sweetened Dr. Pepper at a convenience store in Waxahachie, TX. I was so excited I ran to the car then I had to run back in for the clerk's bottle opener
damn, you guys found out my secret Mexicoke in a glass bottle theyve got em in 20 Oz bottles at my bodega... Mmmm...Mexicoke
They've made it in Sugarland for years and I doubt it's the only place that does it. When I had to drive through there or when I was a kid and went with my mom we always stop at some random store and bought a couple. We would also buy some when we visited family in north Texas.
See, every time I eat at a Mexican place, I get a Dr. Pepper, and I put some Sweet N Low in it to make it a little sweeter. It goes so well with the Mexican food. If this Mexican stuff is sweeter than the normal, it all makes sense now! Everyone thought I was weird, but it turns out, my palate is genius.
Pachiugos (Gelato place) sells coke and dr. pepper made with real sugar. They also sell diet coke in small bottles. I wonder what that is all about.
Geez... Jones Soda influencing Dr Pepper... gimme a break. Unless something's changed recently, Dublin, Tx. is home of one of only 3 bottling plants making pure cane sugar Dr Pepper - the original formula. It existed long before Jones Soda. I just drove down there a month or two ago to get some. Nice folks down there. I'm not a big soda drinker - I probably drink one a month tops, but I really couldn't tell much of a difference between regular Dr Pepper and the pure cane stuff. *EDIT* : ya learn something new every day... just found out there are 3 bottling plants producing pure cane sugar-based Dr Pepper : Dublin, Temple, and Waco. Apparently no matter where it's made, pure cane sugar-based Dr Pepper is called "Dublin Dr Pepper" because the Dublin plant was the first to say no to using corn syrup instead of sugar when every other plant was switching to corn syrup due to expenses.
