Its DEFINTELY Rocky 4 - 2nd montage. I dont care what classic Rocky elements its lacking or coulda-shoulda had... I remember watching it in the theater when it came out. After that sequence, everyone in the crowd was ready to kick Drago's ass.
This one gets my vote... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i69G4XHDgfo"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i69G4XHDgfo" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I watched them all again for nostalgia's sake, and was very surprised at how I felt. If I had not watched them, I would definitely have said Rocky IV (second), but that one actually turned out to be my least favorite of all of them. The music was crappy, and the training scenes just weren't as memorable as I had thought. Anyway, the only one that gave me chills was the montage from Rocky II, so that gets my vote. The scene where Adrian tells him to "win" is just inspirational. Here's how I rank them: Rocky 2 Rocky 1 Rocky 3 Rocky 4 (First -- underrated by many of you. It's much better than the second montage) Rocky 4 (Second) Rocky Balboa
Rocky IV - Montage #2 It, along with the ridiculously over-the-top boxing match, made a bad movie(and Rocky IV IS a bad movie) into something I can't help but watch everytime it's on TBS or SpikeTV. The Rocky I montage is an all-time classic, but I prefer the remixed "Gonna Fly Now" theme used in Rocky III. The problem with that montage is the gay ass hug in the ocean by Rocky and Apollo. If it wasn't for that, III would be #1 on my list.
The great part about those videos is that Rocky is apparently so old school he eschews sparring in every single one in favor of chin ups, jumping rope, weight lifting and woodchopping.
Agree with number 1. Somebody edit that video and put the classic song. 2. I just figured all russians run that way. Or for that matter all europeans, have you seen Pau Gasol run?
I vote for RIV (second part) because of Hearts On Fire just fires the isht off me, but, I have to add this about the RIV (first part): At -1:46 of that montage, there is a black dude helping Drago's work out. WAIT JUST A FREAKIN' moment... how's a black dude there helping a RUSSIAN out with boxing? That's like having a Mexican dude helping a white dude with SOCCER...
He was obviously imported from the powerhouse Cuban National Team to help out with Drago's training. Duhh.
It looks like a dead heat between I, III, and IV pt. 2. Rocky I set the tone for all the montages. It had the Philly landmarks and the meat punching scene. But, despite not having the classic Rocky theme, I chose IV pt. 2. I really like the comparison of Rocky's old school roots training to Drago's high tech machines. The part with him pulling the rocks is classic. Plus, I think when Family Guy spoofed the Rocky montage they used IV. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i69G4XHDgfo"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i69G4XHDgfo" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Haha, that cracked me up. Said the same thing myself, how'd the brotha get in-cahoots with the Reds and get himself a job with em? So many analogies and comparisons you can make off that...that's like, Jamaicans bringing in a white guy to help them bobsled (wait, um... ) This doesnt detract from the choices of course, just a quick glance at a vid for the flashback "turning point" montage if there was a choice for it: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2ch_EVD2tUw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2ch_EVD2tUw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> Best Rocky song ever
Can't re-watch at work, so I'll just say III. I hate how they sorta messed up the song in VI - what is that, a saxophone?
Gotta go with 2......it's got Adrian telling Rocky to win, and then Mickey chimes in with "What are we waitin fer!"
The biggest difference between the theme in Rocky Balboa and the previous movies was the addition of the screaming lead trumpet. I'm pretty sure this was in tribute to Maynard Ferguson who passed away 4 months before the movie was released. Maynard's version of "Gonna Fly Now" reached #28 on the pop charts in 1977.
