*(Indicates top 2 seeds awarded to division winners, teams
will be re-seeded according to winning percentage after first round.)

The Rockets, believe it or not are only 7 games out of the playoffs.
With the addition of Dream, Cato, and Rogers in the near future
I think the Rockets can overtake Minnesota. This team is getting better every game and you never know what could happen if they get in. Remember 95', 6th seed, they were a fluke the year before, choke city all over again, down 3 games to 1 against Phoenix. They won that year against all odds and this team could scare some folks in the playoffs if they get in.

Is it really worth it to face the Lakers in the first round??? Or maybe against Utah if we make 7th seed? Or Portland if we make 6th? Neither of the 3 sound very promising.

I seriously think we will make a push after Dream realizes his role, but is it all worth it come draft day?

Do you any of you have this mixed feeling about making the playoffs? One side you want to lose to get a high pick. On the other side, you want barkley to get that ring.

Plus, why the hell we thinking playoffs? We sixth seed in the lotto race. Talk about our positioning. LOL. [IMG]

    rocketsfan34,

You got me, MAN! It's a mixed feeling.

But I still root for the playoffs. Going into the playoffs is always an honor to the team.

And who cares if it's Portland, Utah, or LA? Did the Knicks knock off the Heat last May?

    Believe it?

If we make the playoffs, it means we'll have an incredible run to finish the season (33-13 as Mango said). That's a 59-win pace for a full season, in which case the team would be good enough to face LA, Portland and the like.

I'm with the playoff hopefuls here... Francis needs as much playoff experience as he can get early in his career. It would be horrible if he wound up like Mitch Richmond late in his career, after spending a decade in the basement.

My earlier post in this thread was an attempt at humor. I failed.

    Mango,

I got it, I personally would rather the Rockets make a run and don't quite get there.

Then we get lucky and get a high pick in the draft.

    Yes, Yes, Yes!

Right On, SooneRockStro. If either Minnesota or Phoenix have a key injury the playoff are almost a lock for us.

    rocketsfan34:

You bet its worth to go 3 and out against Lakers, Spurs, or Portland. There are two rule-books in the NBA. One of them is unofficial and is only used in the playoffs. Our young core needs to see that rule book early, especially with the new no-contact rules this year. The best thing that could possibly happen is for Francis and Mobes to get totally embarrased in a first round loss. Its a learning experience :) If we manage to advance past the first round, robbing the rook of a much needed lesson, I will be deeply dissapointed but will learn to live with the tragedy ;-p

<How soon can we sign my boy, Howdy-Doody(Curly), for the rest of the year?>

I personally think getting Morris is more important than making the playoffs and going 3 and out. Although its a very entertaining point, Francis can always learn his lesson next year along with Morris. [IMG]
