That's precisely my point. According to what we know now, it's not very probably that beings with our lifespan could travel to different stars because of the enormous distances. Not to mention the fact that if you did travel as fast as theoretically possible everyone and everything you left behind would grow old and be gone way before you ever got back (or got a message back). If we were being visited it would mean that we've got something wrong with regard to how relativistic physics works and there is hope. Hence the line in my original post "because it would mean that you actually could get here from there". Now, there is interstellar travel for robots. The Pioneer spacecraft will, someday, pass through another star system (assuming they don't run into something first - very unlikely given how big space is). But it won't be for a very, very long time. With regard to the theory that UFOs are time travelers... someone famous (Stephen Hawking?) said he didn't think time travel would ever be possible because if it did then every famous event in history would be crowded out by time-traveling tourists. Since we haven't seen the tourists that proves that it will never be invented. Who knows?
I can tell you why time travel won't work: Not only does one have to go back in time, but they have to go back in space. Since the world revolves in orbit, how do we know that if you go back in time, you don't just end up floating in the middle of space? Also, I want to throw in that sending broadcasts of the number pi into space is useless. The number for pi exists universally, but our form of it is based off the number ten, because we have ten fingers. Lets say that greys have 8 fingers, their number for pi is going to look a lot different.
Maybe the tourists are all cloaked invisibly, or can only view the past but not be part of it, seems that with time travel technology that something like that would be developed as well.
Nahhhh. If they had visited though, I would understand if the gov't covered it up. Wouldn't aliens ruin Christianity?

I guess if aliens that live far far away visited us, they would probably have technology to influence our current events. It could be money, power, or the more sci fi stuff.
