This is just a minor snippet, but I feel it deserved it's own thread since this is published evidence from a local paper in philly that Houston may actually have a shot at signing Billups for the MLE. If Clutch and Dr of Dunk feel otherwise, please feel free to lock it up. Here's the link:

Didn't Morey make a crack about Reese Gaines and saying he wanted 6 guards?

His comments all make sense now.

Yes we finally have a PG who got size, ball handling, IQ, shooting range, and clutchness all in one person!

Well isn't it we couldn't sign Rashard without a S&T? Can't we do the same with Chauncy?

Very intresting. Especially because it gives mention that Billups has been reported to actually want to play here.

Signing him and trading Alston with Head and Sura would be awesome I won't hold my breath. Though alot of times when these Free Agents get all dressed up and then realize their is no party they take serious looks at teams like the Rockets.

A "suggestion" that he "may" have interest seems to mean little if anything at all

Yes but most likely would not be willing to and neither would Detroit the only way this works is in a sort of Bonzi style which I will not rule out with the Orlando the only team with money to burn.

lol ok a midget coming out of college that hasnt proven anything obviously outshines a veteran PG that distributes the ball, can hit the open shot, and has a leaders mentality

I'd love to see a player in the league who DIDN'T want to play with T-Mac and Yao. However, given the Rockets' 7 guards (or is it 6? I lost count) and lack of a PF, I doubt going after Billups is really high on the list. The Rockets have to save that MLE for Rashard or McDyess or Artest or XXXXXXX PF.

pure speculation and smoke at this point. billups has a good team in detroit and a big contract waiting for the guy who has finally found a team after being bounced around. i doubt he is looking to take less money to go to the west when he has a chance to get "paid" in detroit. and its not like detroit is a bad team, 2 finals appearances and 2 ECF appearances in the past 4 years, and a finals mvp to his name too.

getting billups would be huge but it still doesnt solve a glut of guards and the hole at PF. but its more likely that the rockets will sign me to the team before they can get billups for the MLE.

This is 100 times better than us getting Rashard. We can have James come off the bench and Brooks as our 3rd string. We can then trade, Rafer, Head, JLIII for our PF. We can have VSpan as our 2nd or 3rd string SG.

The Philly Inquirer says that they heard that Billups would like to play here...not suggest. Also, it wouldn't hurt to at least contact Billups' agent.
