Hey we need all the encouragement we can get. How is he defensively? How do you (anyone that knows anything about him) think he would do against some of the big guards in the West like D. Williams (actually only 6'3" but is wide) or Barbosa who is 6'3" but is also a "jet?" Actually, Steve Nash is 6'3" and J.Terry is 6'2". I guess we will find out eventually.

Didn't Morey mention that they suspected the Suns or Spurs were ready to take Brooks if the Rockets didn't? Perhaps this lends credibility to Morey's abilities as a GM after all. Hopefully we all end up with egg on our faces for bashing him over this pick! :D

Exactly... and Eddie Johnson said he saw Brooks dominate two draft picks last week (probably the PHX workout since Eddie broadcasts PHX games). So... chances are he saw Brooks dominate Alando Tucker and Petteri Koponen.

And we know PHX likely had interest in these three guys... why?

Because they picked Alando Tucker... one of the players at the workout, and probably one of the players dominated by Brooks.

And now, what will people say? Eddie Johnson is lying after the draft?

What fascinates is me that some simply assume Brooks is a bust. From what I saw of him, the kid is explosive, can get to the rim and shoot, can push the ball in the open court and makes pretty good decisions. He is smallish and will never be an elite defender, but I also don't see a ton of guards who are going to dominate a game posting you up. Billups, Deron Williams, Tinsley, sure. But not many others.

Actually, I don't think he will be starting. He'll get a few minutes off the bench against those teams in the appropiate match up situations. Adelman wouldn't start Brooks. It will be Mike James. Brooks will be going guarding Marcus Banks, Jose Barea, and Beno Udrih. Posting up our PG with their bench PG will mess up their set offense, because then that leaves their other players out of the loop.

Did every pg back down 5-5 Earl Boykins? Did every sg back down 6-3 Luther Head? Please, I'd rather let Deron Williams backing down a block of 160 lbs every time down the court. PGs aren't pfs and centers, they save their legs.

I'm not ready to say I love him. Wait till Summer League. Hope we don't trade him also in a surprise deal.

Hopefully, over time, Brooks will become an amazing PG who will become a really popular player in the league.

I believe that Rick Adelman will play some zone to protect mismatches on the defensive end.

I don't think a defensive oriented JVG would play Head if he's too much of a defensive liability.

I'd rather have Deron try backing down Brooks/whatever PG we have rather than Boozer take it to Yao all the time. If they change their gameplan for the sake of doing that, I say let them do it.

If it was only as easy as you thought. Just ask Rafer as he was getting murdered all year long by scoring PGs. Actually just go rewatch what Deron Williams did to him in the playoffs.

If Matt Maloney was 6'10", he'd still be in the league.

The Jazz will be worried about how M. Almond can guard T-Mac and Hill can guard Yao.

Phoenix is worrying about how Alando Tucker can guard T-Mac and how DJ Strawberry can guard Mike James.

Dallas is just wondering "What is guarding? Are we supposed to guard the Warriors, too?" as they send out Fazekas to guard Yao Ming.

Yes, I am being silly, but all these teams are not staying up late wondering if their rookie can guard the franchise players of the West.

Aaron Brooks is just a late round draft pick off the bench. Now, Alando Tucker and DJ Strawberry abuse T-Mac and Mike James. I'll didn't mean anything said in this post. :D

    Peace and blessings.
