    Andrew Bynum
7-0 C from St. Joseph (HS)

    L.A. Lakers Trade Breakdown

    Outgoing
    Lamar Odom
    6-10 PF from Rhode Island
    Kwame Brown
6-11 C from Glynn Academy (HS)
    Andrew Bynum
7-0 C from St. Joseph (HS)

    Incoming
    Rafer Alston
    6-2 PG from Frenso State

    6-3 PG from Illinois
    Steve Novak
    6-9 SF from Marquette
    Jermaine O'Neal
6-11 C from Eau Claire (HS)

    Successful Scenario

Due to Houston, Indiana, and L.A. Lakers being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston, Indiana, and L.A. Lakers had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

i dont know about amir johnson, NONE of us have seen enough of him to have a solid opinion considering he only played eight games of garbage time. but i've seen mikki moore through out the years play on all his different teams, and that dude sucks, he's soft and basically the only thing he con do is dunk. the thing is that he trys to make them look spectacular by screaming like a b**** everytime he scores. its almost as annoying as the LJ sign larry johnson would do every time.

Joe Smith might be an adequate FA option.

do you think we can get Radmanovic from LAL?
do you think Radmanovic can play 4 ?
I think he is quite suitable since he is a decent outside shooter with athleticism.
Although his defense seems can't help Rox much, we won't stress on defense while we are under RA, isn't it?

No way. Radmanovis isn't 4. He cant rebound he cant block and he's not athletic. Just another shooter

Our next PF should be Lawrence Roberts from the Grizzlies. they declined to make qualifying offers to them, so we need to make an offer. They supposedly are not going to match any offers. Roberts has looked good against the Rockets in the past, and will look even better next to Yao, and even coming off the bench as a back up center. Mainly PF though. GET HIM!

The reasoning in that article was pretty similar to mine. He's not a perfect fit, but he could be signed for less than the MLE, and anybody who would sign for part of our MLE would be flawed. I liked Lawerence Roberts when he came out of college, but I haven't seen him play much as a pro to know if he would offer much over Hayes and Landry.

smith is surprising in that he is actually a good fit for us.

not perfect in that he isn't that good defensively, but he has size at 6'10", he can rebound and score, and he can knock down his free throws.

I agree that he is a good fit, but the two flaws I thought of were:

He lacks bulk to keep bigger PFs out of the paint and doesn't block a whole lot of shots.

He wouldn't fit in with RA's offense, but I'm not sure there is a PF available in FA outside of maybe Webber that would be a good fit in his offense.

Hmm... remember the last time Joe Smith played for Adelman and how many points a game he averaged?

BTW, here's one of the reason why one shouldn't be suprised at Daryl Morey having interest in Joe Smith (beyond the fact that fans in Utah will have a hard time getting hostile with a player named Joseph Smith):

    http://www.82games.com/0607/06PHI13D.HTM

    http://www.82games.com/0506/05MIL11D.HTM

    http://www.82games.com/04MIL12D.HTM

(yes, I am conveniently skipping his 11 games and 13 mpg with Denver as too small a sample size.. his stats looked terrible in those, but his Philly numbers is a much better sample size).

Anyhow, when healthy, Smith has helped out his team pretty consistently.. particularly, MIL and PHI both rebounded better by a 2% margin with him on the court than with him off each of the last 3 year.

He is somewhat similar to Juwan, in being a skilled wily vet who isn't an atheletic freak any more, but Joe has been a better rebounder in this stage of his career and his D has always been pretty decent. When he was in Minny playing with Garnett, I remember he used to be relied upon as a good defensive piece.

I didn't realize he had coached him, but I see that now. He isn't the kind of passing bigman that Adelman used in Sacremento.

I do think Joe Smith is our best FA choice to be our PF.

Please no Omberto and no Darko or Varajeo at their asking prices.

I would rather offer the MLE to Amir Johnson from Detroit. If the Pistons match, then offer it to McDyess. If we also trade some of our PGs for a PF and resign Hayes then we will actually be loaded at the PF.

    Yao/Deke
    McDyess/(PF from trade)/Hayes/Landry
    Battier/Novak/Reed
    TMac/Bonzi/Head
    James/Alston/Brooks

Joe Smith would be OK but McDyess is better for now and Amir Johnson definitely looked like a stud in limited playing time.

joe smith doesn't block shots. he's only an average passer.

that's about it. he does pretty much everything else we need in a pf at a good price.

i think joe smith is a great value pick up, especially if we can swing a big deal elsewhere at the same time.
