Has there any other so called 'phenom' in the history of sports that has flopped as badly as Michelle Wie? Twenty million in endorsements aside, she has done absolutely nothing (I know she is still young) to prove her worth for as much coverage as she gets. The past couple months have been an absolute disaster as she has been withdrawing from tournaments with a wrist injury. She even got called out by Annika Sorenstam for withdrawing in fear of breaking the Rule of 88. It was painfully obvious she did it fearing she would top 88, as she was seen practicing just a couple days later.

I think it would be have been better if she took the path that Tiger took to the pros. Apparently she just wants to cash in on the fame and show nothing for it on the green. She can barely hang with the women, but still enters all the mens tourneys. It boggles my mind.

And today she withdrew from the US womens open one shot behind the 12 year old...sad.

Who would've thought putting this much pressure and spotlight on a 16 year old would have negative consequences?

    I'd hit it . . . in about 3 months when she turns 18.

I agree...but what I dont get is why she keeps entering mens tourneys? just stick with the women until your game improves.

seriously, if I was her age and got all these endorsement deals despite just being a young good looking player in a sport no one watches, I would say, "No thank you, I don't want any of your money until I am a proven athlete on the course. God forbid I end up like Anna Kournikova when I can be an Allison Stoke instead."

Kounikova won 16 WTA tour titles including 2 grand slams in a four year period. Unless Wie considerably picks up her game in the near future, I don't see this as a fair comparison.

psshhh, doubles doesn't count. She wasn't that good. Granted Wie is still much worse.

Maybe true, but my point was that she actually did win something.

They were all doubles titles with Martina Hingis as her partner 90% of the time. She never won a singles title. Team Wie up with Tiger Woods and I'm sure they'd win a few tourneys.

Yeah with Martina Hingis, the best player during that time

Maybe if Michelle Wie paired up with Tiger, she could claim a few titles too.
