What has he done in Houston to show he's frustrated. The guys loves playing and loves his teammates. Ever since his initial induction in the league, he's been a pretty good kid.

Also, a headline on the ESPN main page read "Davis Leads Charlotte to 2-0 start". Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing a headline saying that Francis, a better player, led the Rockets to a 2-0 start...a much bigger surprise than Charlotte.

Then, in the most recent SI, they have a thing about teams changing uniforms and how they always did better afterwards. Guess they were able to put those horrible Rocket championships out of their heads and forgot that we changed ours immediately after the second title.

    I'm starting to believe this.

rm is it a surprise anymore, ive seen predictions rating us behind seattle even, lol

francis isnt unhappy, hes got his pal mobley here and does all the right things and will be signed long term here next yr, but of course since we have little media popularity, they choose to spin us in a bad light more often than not-if they had any research they would know he played juco ball here at San Jacinto before going to Maryland

    Crap, I didn't see that.

Anyway, it was just the final straw in three things I saw in a span of like 5 minutes.

The media is a joke. They took that one article and couldn't wait to run with it. They rip Francis for not wanting to play in Vancouver, and eventually going to Houston, now they're doing everything they can to make it seem like Francis is leaving Houston probably to go to Washington so that they can have another reason for them to hype Washington and Jordan. Francis is just the flavor of the month, I say ignore it. Last year Vince Carter was the disgruntled star who was ready to bolt Toronto to go into the waiting arms of Michael Jordan. We saw what happened there.

I want Steve to remain a Rocket as much as anyone and I think in the end he'll remain here in Houston. But I can't believe the outrage everyone is displaying about the media's suggestions that Steve will bolt. First, journalists needs to sell stories in order to eat, and they aren't going to get a good meal out of a story on how Steve is a Rocket for life. So they latch onto a quote that implies that Steve is dissatisfied with Houston and write around that. And don't forget that last year we were all too ready to accept the media's suggestions that Chris Webber was leaving Sacramento. Maybe all the rumblings about Steve is all that bad karma coming back to us.

You guys act like the media is only hating on us. Stop the whining. And if you read the chat on ESPN with David Aldrigde he called steve the best point guard in the west.

I never believed in any conspiracy until this year. It's not the writers' low predictions for the Rockets that get me upset - I didn't think they would make the playoffs either. It is their duplicity regarding the players.

I find it odd that Hakeem Olajuwon is now considered an elite big man in all season previews while had he remained in Houston, he most certainly would have been seen as an enigmatic, aging has-been with serious health issues.

I find it odd that all season previews say that "<i>this team will seriously miss Mo Taylor; they could have been a playoff team with him.</i>", while the same writers were consistently writing "<i>poor rebounder/defender, below average power forward</i>" in the same spot, prior to the injury.

I find it odd that prior to the draft, the worst that was ever written about Eddie Griffin in a player profile was "<I>talented big man with great potential. Could have attitude problems, however.</i>" while he is now <i>never</i> seen on any rankings of top ROY candidates. This is very, very odd.

The last straw for me ocurred last night while viewing ESPN's main NBA page. My eyes fell upon a subtitle along the lines of "<i>Davis sparks Charlotte to victory.</i>" Upon reading the article, I became informed that he had scored 18 points and is on his way to superstardom. Thank you.

Maybe not conspiracy, but the Rockets are going unnoticed. That is a damn shame too because this team is fun to watch.

They are definitely fun to watch!...if Francis and team keep winning someone will say: "my, we didn't expect this, why?" and will notice the all around greatness of Steve Francis, and the explosiveness, and intensity of the Cat...Man this backcourt will be awesome, both are really starting to show an all-around polish to their game. Francis in particular offers so much in his skills, it is really amazing.

Sorry that we're "whining" to much for you and you're "too mature" for us, but I don't care IF Aldridge calls Francis the best PG in the league because that guy's opinion never meant squat to us with all that garbage he spews. What we're "whining" about is the media claiming Francis is unhappy not that he is going to bolt.

It wasn't the media suggestions that Webber would leave he WAS going to leave, and he is STILL saying he didn't want to return. That's why he is trashing the Rockets, Magic and Spurs because it wasn't a suggestion he was going to take the first great offer and bolt, so it definitely isn't bad karma. In fact he was on the Last Word I believe Tuesday or Wednesday still complaining about the Magic and how Grant Hill may have prevented him from going there since he wanted to play with McGrady.

Vernon Maxwell is a loser; John Starks is the real deal. Kenny Smith sucks; Penny Hardaway is the prototypical point guard of the future. Hakeem will never win a title; this is Patrick Ewing's year. Robert Horry is a ghost; Sean Elliot, there's a player. Chucky Brown sucks. Clyde Drexler is old. Blah blah blah.

I wish I had copies of those pieces.

Savor these clippings. How may people picked the Rockets to win in 1994? Maybe one or two? Certainly twice more than the number of folks who picked us to in in 1995. (In a curious bit of trivia, Julius Erving picked us to three-peat in 1996.)

We will never be handed respect. We are Houston -- bad uniforms, weird Mascots, nothing inherently 'sexy' about the city or team. It's why the Rockets historically earn it after they deserve it, not before or at the approriate time.

I think it is a good sign, karma-wise. The true Rocket Brand Success is all about surprise and disrespect. If we are going to thrive, Baron Davis headlines are key. 18 points! Hot Damn! Wow! You must be great! So was Penny Hardaway when Kenny Smith lit him up for seven threes in the fourth quarter of Game One of the 1995 Finals! You are great like him! And my oh my Maurice Taylor is a bad player! Exactly! By the way, how does our dust taste?

This year, we'll make the playoffs. We'll maybe even contend for Midwest title, though probably not win it. We may go out in the first round of the playoffs, but this is going to be a fun year, and it is only the beginning. All propers to Rudy and CD for putting this squad together.

Collect the headlines dissing the Rockets, we can save them for our scrapbook in two years.

Mate, this is one of the best posts Ive ever read. You really sumed up what being a Rockets is all about.

Just remember what is said about us today will only make our Championship success that much sweeter tommorrow. We'll remember what was said, but we wont shove it back in their faces. We're better then that.

We did it in 94. In 95 we didnt stand a chnace according to some people, but we went on the greatest post season run in sports history and ended it with a crushing victory.

The peoples opinions that matter most to me are the ones of the true Rockets fans. The ones that folow them when they win, and when they lose. When we win our next NBA Title, its unlikley we'll be loved like the LA Lakers of this world. But thats part of being a Rockets. Its what makes us the great team we are. We stand in the face of people wishing to drag us down.....and we win.

Its why Im proud to be a fan of the Houston Rockets.
