You couldn't get the trade you wanted - up or down. The first 25 have been selected as went down last night. You are the GM. It's time for you to pick. (I made this a public poll because I thought it would be more fun to see who the real GMs are later).
While Portland and Allen are having their massive orgie of draft picks, I send them this pick with the Eddy Curry poison pill written in fine prints that we can swap picks next year with them UNPROTECTED. Portland is so high on this crack cocaine **** that we just might sneak this by them. Next year hopefully the win some games but still so many rookies leads to infertility so they are back in the lottery and we rape them and say "gottcha b!tch!"
if SA picked splitter, i gotta think they know what they're doing... and he fills a need at PF for us...
Trade this pick to Portland, get a 2nd rounder next year and one of those 50's second rounders they had so that we could get Nichols from Syracuse.
ummm how about any one other than Aaron Brooks! And while im at it - Newley was a waste of $$ - Orlando just scored free money there. ive watched LOTS of Newley and his game is far from NBA ready. Exciting player sure. Good offense yeah. Defense nada. NBA wing speed - nope. ton of guys ahead of him I would of thought 2 dumb picks. this is worse than last years draft...but @ least they redeemed themselves as Battier panned out. Cant see them redeeming themselves from this one. there better be a big trade in the offing.
morey said one of the reason they picked brooks was because they thought SA was going after him... don't know if he was bsing or not, but i would also have picked splitter.
Yes like maybe next year. What are you going to do for power forward THIS year? Splitter is not going to help in that department. San Antonio doesn't have a whole at power forward, they're set, so they can afford to pick a player who has buyout issues and wait for his contract to end. And even then it's not a foregone conclusion he will want to come if he gets offered a bigger contract in Europe. It could become like the Luis Scola situation but for us.
Sorry, I didnt' read the post before selecting "Other" because I would have had the balls to do whatever was necessary to get someone who's primary skill was shooting the ball from the wing and the perimeter. I would have mortgaged the future (yes, next year's #1 and at least a couple of future #2's) plus the 26 and Luther to get Belinelli or Morris Almond. Yes the future picks might be a bit much to move up for Almond, but I would have also knocked out Les and signed his name to the check to pay Phoenix whatever ransom they wanted for the #24 pick.... Then we would have either Rudy (still don't believe the B.S. that he was the player the Rox wanted) or Almond, instead we have Nate Robinson 1A!!! Given the other choices I would have gladly picked up Splitter, because decent big men are so rare, and at a minimum we could have packaged him with one of our 42 other PG's to then grad a stud Power Forward!!!! Morey blew it and nothing that happens between now and the ROX in the WCF will change my mind about that!!!!
Splitter, in addition with the #31 I would have taken McRoberts instead of Landry. Splitter/McRoberts is a pretty decent PF rotation for years if they pan out pretty well, if only one of them works out, we still have Hayes, and if neither of them works out, we are no worse off than now unless Landry really surprises because Brooks is third string at most right now.
Not that I know much about any of these guys, but I get the feeling Glen Davis will pan out. On the other hand, I'm not that unhappy with Brooks as long as Morey can transform this glut of undersized guards into a more balanced roster by summer's end. I would've been happier with Brooks at #26, then Davis at #31. C'mon, Morey. Prove me wrong!!
Splitter was my vote. Even though he may or may not have helped us this year at the PF, I doubt Brooks will clock much time at the PF position either. And I understand at 26 you are not picking a starter, but I still don't see Brooks as the best player available. A 6' SG. I hope I'm wrong.
Davis was the most skilled player left by a fair margin. He plays a position of need and he's a great fit. It was an obvious choice.
It was an obvious choice to chose a 6'9, 300-pound jump shooter who doesn't give you any defense, and has average rebounding ability?
