I’d give them a B, maybe a C, because they didn’t get the guy they were targeting (Rudy Fernandez) for the second year in a row.

At this point, it’s extremely difficult to tell how Brooks, or Landry, or anybody drafted late in the first round will turn out. But coming into the offseason, the two biggest weaknesses on the team were at the 4 and the 1, and they drafted a 4 and a 1. They needed more playmakers, and Brooks does seem like someone that can break down the defense and make some plays. I just hope the same scouts that decided it would be a good idea to sign JL3 were not the same scouts that advocated drafting Brooks.

It's just going to suck if Rudy Fernandez turns out to be another Ginobili, knowing we were targetting him and probably would have got him if Miami didn't screw us over.

I gave them a B. I really like the Landry pick, he brings athletism and some toughness. Landy is already a much more skilled player than Hayes outside side of his rebounding.
It's funny to think that if the Rockets had passed on Aaron Brooks and the Spurs or Suns would have drafted him, everybody would have probably said what a genious pick that would have been for them.
I expect more moves to come that will make alot more sense in why they made these picks. Looks like there's going to be a point guard firesale in Houston over the next few months.

I think everyone is trying to convince themselves that every pick was great, just like we convince ourselves that every free agent we get is going to be the missing piece of the puzzle (do I even need to list the examples?).

What if someone told you before last night that these are the picks we're going to make. How many of you would honestly say 'that's a great idea I can't wait to see it go down!' I'm all for drinking the Rockets Red Kool-Aid, but let's get real.

Seeing how all these picks aren't for trades, I really hope at least one of these picks pans out. At least all these 'keepers' are a good indication that someone we've had last year will not be here next year.

Ok guys, be honest. What draft grade did you guys give the rockets after the Eddie Griffin draft? We had the 26th pick and nothing else. What the hell were you expecting?

If I've learned anything as an NBA fan for last 15 years, it's that I don't know how to judge talent; I just enjoy watching it. These "big names" you're all tossing around like Davis or McRoberts may not even make it in the NBA. Former #2 pick Stromile Swift is getting outplayed by undrafted Chuck Hayes. Unless you can predict the future, these draft grades are absolutely meaningless. They're even worse than power rankings.

I can't say I liked pick because I didnt, BUT:
    1) Josh McRoberts is the MOST OVERRATED player I have ever seen. He got all kinds of hype in college and dig crap I am glad it wasnt him.
    2) Nick Fazekas hmmz reminds me of someone whoooo OH YEA NOVAK we aleady have a player like him PASS
    3) Glen Davis, got skinny just for draft reminds me ALOT of tractor traylor who did the same thing before getting drafted hmmmz that turned out well  (once a fatty always a fatty :))

Ok but I did not like the fact we passed on certain players:
    1) Alando Tucker. Did no one watch this guy in College was a straight up stud, making all kinds of clutch shots. And a good sized forward could easily play the 4.... why?
    2) Affalo. again absolute stud. Not the clutchest player in the world but a BIG PG. And I am clutch we have TMac whatever, but couldve been solid in my opinion
    3) That Brazil guy... we wanted him why not get him? Good PF, now he is gonna own for the spurs cuz spurs just seem to do that all the time to us....

    Well thats it, anyone agree?

I really expected us to package the draft pick along with Head/others for a veteran PF. That's the reason I'm disappointed. There's like a 5% chance anybody taken at 26 is going to be worth a **** so it doesn't really matter who we picked if the pick couldn't be traded.

Am I optimistic about Brooks? HELL no. Midgets ALWAYS suck in the NBA. There's a reason you can count all of the halfway decent sub-six foot guards in NBA history on one hand. Not all-stars... HALFWAY DECENT. Also, we've got Alston and James. When's this guy supposed to play? Hate to burst bubbles, but we've been given no indication that Alston is going anywhere. Mike James obviously is staying.

As for the second rounders, who cares. They'll never play.

I don't really believe we were going after Rudy Fernandez, I think that's a B.S. smokescreen put out by Morey and ROX brass to make things look less bleak....

We had all our chips on ONE GUY - Almond Joy!!!! There's no "if's" about his talent, what he can "do" or how he would "fit" into this or any other team. The guy is a phenom and should have gone much earlier, but to let our most hated rival take him 1 spot in front of us is so unforgivable that barring a trip to the WC finals next year, I refuse to forgive Morey for screwing us this badly..... SALT IN THE WOUND, GUYS, SALT IN THE WOUND!!!!

I said last night (or was it VERY early this AM)... that we (US, HOUSTON, THE ROCKETS) will be the absolute laughing stock of EVERY SINGLE B-Ball pundit who assigns actual grades to each team for their draft efforts....

I also used the line that teams with ZERO DRAFT PICKS did better than the ROX. If nothing else, we are going to be paying guaranteed money to a guy that's virtually identical to a player New York cannot give away in a draft!!!!

The only way this draft does not rate an F- is IF, and it's a VERY BIG IF, Landry is capable of rebounding better than Chuck (doubtful folks), and shooting better than Juwan (when he was "on").... otherwise, those of you trying to desperately to turn Lemons into Lemonade will do nothing but squirt yourselves in the eye with something sour!!!!

Last night was a nightmare. Period. I still cannot believe it. The more I think of it the more it boggles my mind. I sure hope there is a trade in the works to get rid of some of the PGs...

It was the worst draft since passing up on Rashard Lewis not once. not twice.. three freaking times ... for ???

Man I hope there are some deals in the works.

I grade this draft as an F for freaking awesome.....We made alot out of a little with both picks. We addressed serious needs, we got smart players who fit the system, and we got athleticism.

Wow! Some of the comments on our draft picks are absolutely horrifying not to mentioned the grade. Well, I did not grade the picks earlier because it is difficult to grade them then.

    Heh..wow.

How about what the comments from the guys who make their living reporting on basketball, which apparently started the reactions here?

It's almost like you can spot the few Rockets employees trying to infuse some reason into the reactions. :)
