That was a load of crap (the line about Sun Yu), I''m guessing Sun Yu will suddenly develop into a double-double on a nightly basis, based on his superior athleticism, right? Still, compared to the dreck we've drafted tonight, I'd take Sun Yu, or Sun Yi, or even One hung low for that matter....
I live on the West Coast and get to see alot of PAC-10 basketball during the college season. I saw alot of Aaron Brooks tormenting the teams in the PAC-10 the last couple of seasons. He has great handles, can shoot the pro-range 3 pointer with ease, and can get his shot off against any guard. He is quick as lightning! He is a penatrating demon! If you guys get a chance, check the youtube on Brooks, it will show you some of his skills. He was PAC-10 player of the year last season over Affalo, Young, Pruitt, Hawes, Williams, and others. He kinda reminds me of AI! I know this remains to be seen, but he will definitely bring something to the Rockets that they do not already have. Someone else who can get his own shot off at will ala AI, excellent handles ala Steve Nash, penetration in the paint ala Tony Parker, disruption to the other teams defense ala Chris Paul! I think this selcetion shows a change in the direction of the ROX. After years of being destroyed by Parker, AI, Nash, and Paul, they decided to get a PG with some speed and a hella skill set to terrorize other teams and Memphis did the same thing by selecing Mike Conley. He is on a little taller than Brooks(6'0 to 5'101/2).
This thread is totally off base... if the Rockets addressed nothing else, atheleticism was the one thing they DID address. These were two of the quickest guys for their respective positions in the draft overall, especially consider where they went. Atheleticism seems to have been one of the major focus there. Brooks is of course a speed deomon, but in Landry we are talking about a 250 lb guy who has a 36.5 inch vertical, and some of the fastest sprint and lane agility scores, too. (Also, Landry seem to have some very good handles for a PF). On the other hand, the Rockets skipped on a few of the other guys who had production and skills, but didn't seem as atheletic either from combine scores or from the tape. McRoberts' combine scores were not great, Fazekas didn't go to the combine, but he isn't known for quickness, Glen Davis is quick for a 300 lb guy... but he's still a 300 lb guy. Rockets went with atheleticism over size in drafting players with comparably the same level of college production and skills. One thing I'm a bit diappointed about is the Rockets didn't take a flyer on Tiago Splitter. If they didn't expect immediate help from the rooks anyhow, why not wait a year on him. From what I read, Splitter can step in and play like a PJ Brown type right away once he arrives.

all of you guys whining for up-tempo and to dump JVG for Adelman do not have grounds for complaint. The Suns aren't exactly huge, they play Nash next Barbosa frequently and don't even have a player over 7 feet. The Warriors play smallr too - Baron Davis isn't a giant nor is Monta Ellis. It's just the nature of the beast.
Put me down for another guy who saw alot of Brooks the last few years. THe guy is a warrior- he's a great leader, he can get his shot off on anyone, plays better D than he's given credit for. He was the taller of Oregon's two starting guards, so he guarded a lot of guys taller than him and did a credible job. He can take over games when he gets hot shooting, because he can create his own shot at will. Give the kid some time. I look for him to have a strong summer league.
