Scroll down to #17 to see a video of Brad Newley's reaction to being drafted by the Rockets.

Found this little bit from the Adelaide 36ers (the team he's playing for now) website.

    Newley drafted by Houston Rockets
29/JUN/2007 – Adelaide 36ers and SA prodigy Brad Newley has been picked in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets took Newley in the second round with pick number 54.

How much this impacts the 36ers remains to be seen. A second round pick does not guarantee a contract and Houston may elect to return Newley to the NBL for another year, or run him in the NBA's D-League.

"I am absolutely over the moon," he said.

"It has been a dream of mine for a long time. I am just absolutely rapt.

"It is a big thing for me so hopefully things work out when I get over there and play.

"I just wanted to hear my name called.

"It's a champion club and they've got my rights now so I am very very happy.

"Mum had a couple of wines and we are all over the moon."

    Congratulations Brad!

No need to buy a plane ticket, Brad. Clutch's wife says you're staying put.

I believe fellow Clutchfans member SmeggySmeg lives in Adelaide. Perhaps he could track Brad down and get the lowdown.

Wonderful, he is over the moon... the top dogs around the league laughed just to see such a sight of lousy drafting as Morey served us a dish full of cow poop and his spoon for brains ran away for a night!

Maybe as an individual Morey is smart but as a team of front office decision makers the Rockets suck. Hey Diddle Diddle you guys suck...

Not to defend last nite, the indefensible draft nite, but - the only 'miss' of a 'big' I felt was Splitter. The other 4s stayed around a while longer. BTW - is Brooks better than Lil Luke?

    Here's another article I found:

NBA draft for SA star Newley

BOOMERS guard Brad Newley is within touching distance of his NBA dream after being picked up in today's NBA Draft.

Watching the draft on ESPN at his Lower Mitcham home, the 22-year-old was elated when his name was called out by the Houston Rockets at pick No. 54.

"I am absolutely over the moon," he said.

"It has been a dream of mine for a long time. I am just absolutely wrapped."

Houston had only secured the second-round pick in the draft after acquiring it from Orlando for cash earlier in the day.

Newley's selection comes following an arduous trip of tryouts in the U.S. where he trained with the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland, Philadelphia and Phoenix Suns.

The 199cm Newley will now fly to Houston and join high-profile team-mates Yao Ming, the first overall Pick in the 2002 draft, and seven-time NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady for training camp.

Because Newly was a second-round selection, he will have to impress his coaches to secure a contract.

If Newly does play in the NBA he will become the second South Australian to play in the league.

Centre Mark Bradtke had brief stint with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 1996-97 season.

    This is from Feigen's Blog:

Brad Newley, the Rockets' choice with the 54th pick, is a project but a big-time shooter.

He'll stay overseas for another year.

But I'm not sure if you can have too much confidence in a guy who answers to "Noodles Newley."

BAAHAHA NOODLES! ship this guy in now!

"mum had a couple of wines and we are all over the moon."

You thing the Rockets changed the direction the team is going by drafting Brooks? If Newley makes the team, you won't believe the direction this team goes in. I mean we aren't talking British English, we are talking DOWNUNDER British English!!! We'll all have to have an interpreter. The only time we'll be able to understand him is when he mentions Humble, Texas.

    Hope ya make it, Brad!!
