Great, now all the damn Australian BOFs are going to join this board and cause this place to go downhill with all their traffic and biased opinions. stock up on stingrays, people, it's the only way to stop them!!!!

best 6th man in the australian league, that isn't much of an indication of anything. put a couple of games with 40+ points past season. gets to rack and dunks with authority. has range extends to the 3pt line but in aus/int 3pt line is shorter.

after the australian u21 won the juiorship world championship in 2003, bogut and him were projected to be australia's future in international basketball. bogut powered that title win while newley was only coming around then.

biggest question is defense because there isn't really any defense in the australian league but has never disapointed when he has had to.

I think Newely for the 54 pick is a safe bet... this is a move that in 5 years we'll all be saying it was a solid allround pick.

racist? If it's anything it's xenophobic, but I think he was just joking. The sting ray remark is in reference to how Steve Irwin was killed. It's in poor taste, but I doubt the guy meant any harm.

it's the only way to stop them, their skin is impervious to everything else.

obviously, you are a BOF. BOF's think anything that doesn't compliment Australia is racist.

Yes there may be more aussies joining the board due to Houston picking up Brad but don't put all of us aussie posters in the BOF especially considering most have been around for some time.

lol, i doubt the average aussie interested in sports in general can even name an aussie baller outside of andrew gaze and maybe (if they from vic) bogut.

ill be shocked if newley becomes anything more then a bench player. he has talent and plays well here in the aussie league, but i feel he'd lack NBA speed. his body doesnt strike me as one that could put on a lot of size either. if anything morey should insist on him playing in a euro league where he can develop against better quality opposition.

    still shocked about brooks.

I would say the average aussie who is interested in sports would have no problem naming aussie ballers its the people who have no idea about sport that couldn't ;)

If you have cable over here you get pretty good coverage of the NBL, it's not great but better than what we have had in the last 5-10 years.

What's next trading Yao to Denver for Allen Iverson?

    I keed, I keed.

I really don't have a feel for what our team is doing to help us win NEXT season other than getting bonzi and mike james

Please stop with this BOF business. For starters im not sure what it stands for but i do know that it has to do with fans supporting a team because of a certain player. Im from Australia and im pretty sure you wont have a whole lot of them here for 2 reasons.

    1. Although basketball is on the rise in Australia mainly due to Andrew Bogut, there still is not enough interest out here for it to be a major problem in the forum. We get like max 3000 people to a NBL game for god sake. :D

    2. Newley is not good enough and IMO wont make an impact at all in the rockets. In fact i highly doubt they will offer him a contract. I am happy for him however and wish him well.

But please dont let this BOF bullsh*t tarnish some of your opinions on some of us Aussies because ive been here for a year now and read it daily and am a committed rocket fan who loves the rockets not certain players. Other posters such as AussieRocket, Hooroo and Dockerland are the same as well im sure.

saw brad newley in one exhibition game, pretty skinny and not quick enough, but he can really shoot (except for free throws), comparison would be wally except for his size

so true about the first point. But drafting brad newley would sure force the australian TV network to braodcast at least 1 NBA game per month....hopefully

Fair enough. I didnt mean to sound angry though. I just get annoyed because one of my pet hates is people who arent real fans and who dont know what they're talking about. So i took it personally/defensively even if he was joking :D
