    Vernon Maxwell in Jordan's last season before his FIRST RETIREMENT, was the only player THAT held Jordan to under 20pts. MAD MAX frustrated Jordan on many occasions in the early 90s. I believe, as well as many Rocket Fans believe, that had it been the Rockets to face the Bulls instead of Phoenix in the final that year(Which we should've have if it wasn't for a bad foul call against the Seattle series)- The Rockets would have been 3 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS!!! Anyways, the bottom line was Vernon was one of the best Jordan stoppers of all time!

    You are true blue Richie.

    That was a horrible call. And as fate would have it, we will always have to either look away and bite our tongues or come out swinging .... everytime some die hard Jordan worshipper says that foolish footnote to the Rocket's Championship years.

    Yeah, but MJ was, like retired, man. Like, if he were playing youse guys, ya would-na done dat. Now, get otta here witch ya!

    Hey Rich:

    I know you're from here and live/work in NYC, but how do you like my Chicago accent???? [IMG]

    ROCKET RICH NYC, You are so right about that 93 series gm 7 rockets at Sonics the Rockets were absolutely robbed and it was a sad day. The Rockets have been sscrewed more time than Vanessa Del Rio. Some of the other series and games were robbed in are;

    96 vs. Sonics A totally unfair series in which the rockets were forced to play gm 1 30 hours after beating L.A. when the Bulls were allowed 3 days off so they can be on primetime NBC the time slot the Rocks should have played in. Plus the Sonics were allowed to play an illegal college zone with no calls.

    97 vs Jazz, Just completely robbed in the whole series and to top it off in gm 6 Karla Elbone puts Dexler in a wwf bearhug freeing up stockton for the game winner.

    98 v Jazz, Up 1 game to 0 the refs decide to give the jazz game 2 by ejecting hakkeem in gm 2 for no reason and giving the jazz every call. The Rockets would have swpet them if not for this.

    99 vs lakers game 1 Kobe falls down at the end of game and Mack is called for a foul giving the Lakers gm 1 and cheating the Rockets of game 1.

    Man, I was born in Chicago and still have a lot of friends and family that give me hell. However, I always remind Bulls fans especially Jordan lovers about Maxwell holding Jordan to under 20 points. Also, after the Bulls beat the Suns, there was so much mystery about the future of the Bulls: Grant leaving, Paxson retiring, Jordan's gambling spree, Pippen's whining. Even if Jordan didn't retire the first time, I still believe the Rockets would have won it all.

    No matter what though...Nobody can take away our titles!!

    Another reason we matched up well against the Bulls besides Hakeem killing them and Maxwell playing tough D on MJ, was Mario Elie too held his own defending Jordan. So, we had two guys that could wear down Jordan, while Hakeem schooled them.

    Michael Jordan was once asked which defender gave him the hardest time. His answer: Vernon Maxwell.
