I was disappointed when I got my 2001-02 Rockets schedule and printed on the schedule were only FOUR promo nights...(games where they give away free stuff at the door)

Tue Oct 30 Magnetic Schedules (opening night)
Sat Nov 3 (vs. MIN) Magnetic schedules
Thu Nov 15 (vs. LAL) Rockets Interactive CD Card
Sat Dec 15 (vs. MIA) Rockets Interactive CD Card

What is this Interactive CD Card?? I think I want one...

Overall, I think this is pretty weak promo schedule...

Although, I ain't complaining about the free Rockets Blast Off Team Rosters they give away, those are sweet.

    More free stuff!!!

They should have something for EVERY game.

It doesn't have to be anything big.

Are they giving away white towels like they did last year against the Magic?

They are having more than just 4 promo nights. Remember when they actually asked me to ask everyone here about what to give away? They are going to use some of those suggestions.

Plus, I know they are doing bobble heads this year again.

I'm amazed by the differences in mindset between Rockets fans and other fans. When I buy tickets here in Salt Lake, I have no idea where those tickets had to come from. People in Utah support their team, and won't just sale their tickets. The elite staff of 'scalpers' that I employ procure tickets for me by any means necessary. If it means beating down a grandma that sold her motor scooter and eats bird seed to see the Jazz, so be it. If it means having a newly divorced woman sue her otherwise amicable ex for his tickets, so be it.

It must be lucky to live in Houston... considering 20-35% of the arena is going to be empty on any given night. Damn, an empty ass arena and the owner still has to give you crap to come out and be entertained? Damn you guys are lucky.

What can't I do in Salt Lake? I hate baseball. I hate football. Do you have the best snow on the planet? Do you fly fish in world famous rivers? Can you hike @ 11,000' within 15 minutes of your house? Can you snowboard 25 minutes from your front door at a ski resort that gets 500" of snow a year? Can you mountain bike on hills > 100'? Do you ever have 15% humidity days? Do you even know what the color yellow or red looks like on a tree?

Oh yeah, you have a big sauce pan of salt water called the Gulf of Mexico. You have more pollution than any other city in America.

    Sounds like a delight. :p

(Incidentally, I think Houston is fine, just don't vibe Utah like some hater, you idiot, Utah RULES)

Dude, all that stuff was kinda lame. Nature's fine and all, but you could do all that crap in Montana, or even Alaska, and we all know what kinds of hotspots those states are.

What's the more "man made" life like up in Utah? What kind of Clubs, amusement parks, restaurants, museums etc. do they have up there? I'm no trying to put your state down or anything, just curious.

'all that stuff was kinda lame'??? LOL. That's my life. I'll take riding in evergreens, dropping cliffs, or casting to a rising trout any day of the week. Salt Lake has a million or so people living here, so it has all of the 'amenities' or whatever, but the best stuff is just a few minutes outside of the town. Granted, it doesn't rank up there w/ watching Nascar from Suburbia for your Saturday enjoyment, as I'm sure you're apt to do.

BTW, you're making me drool when you talk about MT or AK. Mmmm... Montana, mmm... Alaska. The cool thing about Utah is that you can do the same things that you can do in Montana and Alaska, but a) it's not -20 in the freaking winter and b) there's actually a big enough city to have decent industry and jobs.

As far as restaurants go... I can't complain about anything other than a lack of Southern Indian Cuisine. As far as museums, this just in, we actually have museums and various art spaces. As far as clubs go, this just in, UT actually has clubs and music, etc. etc. It's even so podonk that I still get to see some of my favorite bands like Modest Mouse, Mocket, etc. I'm over 14, so I don't really know what's down w/ the amusement parks, but there are 2 dozen skateparks/bmx parks in the city.

Actually, I don't know why I'm defending Utah. This place is holy, but if Nascar watching idiots want to hate Utah, then have at it. It'll keep you off of my roads and trails and out of my rivers and snow. Have at it. You have a great life, nothing to see here, move along. Pepsi ads, fast cars, 84oz. beverages, you're living the high life.

Roxran, the animals are much bigger here than in the South... but the hunting cycles are much shorter.... b/c Utah is effectively a desert. It's either the definitive desert, i.e. Arizona, or alpine desert above a certain elevation. The Mule Deer are gorgeous, but the populations are much smaller than what you'd find in White Tail populations in swamps like in coastal Texas or in SC (if I remember correctly SC had 7,000,000 deer to 3,000,000 people when I moved away). There are elk and moose here, but I think you have to pay something around 35K for an elk permit. A guy that fly fishes with me also hunts pheasants and duck, but that season is also much shorter than what you'd find down south (in SC I think the shotgun season for deer was 2-3 mos, here it's a few weeks). If you bow hunt, I think your season here is probably 2 mos. or so.

BTW, they don't have grey fox squirrels here. :D But the trout rise allllll year long, and the Provo river is about as good as you can get (Henry's Fork in Idaho is prettier and more technical, but you'd have to be a millionaire or work tourism in West Yellowstone to stay alive).

    Nascar???

    O...K

Really friend, you could've done better than that.

So your not into baseball or football, well are you into golf? Tiger Woods is playing here as I'm typing this. Tennis? Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras will be battling out over here in a few months.

As for the "Most Polluted City In The World" title, it may not mean much, but we lost it to L.A. recently. :(

I guess there's really not much for me to do except go to my polluted beach where the dead fish all float in the water. Maybe I'll go out to the lake where I'll have to jetski over empty beer cans. Then I could go up to Conroe to see the wildlife that's been deformed due to the pollution. Maybe I'll go up to Utah because everyone knows the weather is lousy over here in the fall and salt lake is the autumn hotspot of the world. If I only had the funds to visit the mormons, it's a shame that there's no way to make any money down here or I would visit you all in utah. Oh well I guess I'm stuck here.

I wasn't trashing on Houston. I like Houston. I was defending Utah under the notion that I can do everything (that's important to me) that you can do there, but I can also do some things that are very important to me (as in averaging over 75 days at Brighton for the past 6 seasons, etc.). I didn't say someone couldn't make money in Houston, I was saying to do the things that I want to do (snowboard, fly fish, hike, etc.) that Salt Lake is a great spot b/c it also has decent industry.

Next time read my damn posts dumbass, b/c Really friend, you could've done better than that. This thread turned into a trash Utah thread. You added to it by throwing in some innuendo that there's something wrong with Mormons and that b/c SLC is the heart of that specific religion that Utah is in some way a lesser state. I'm curious about these opinions of yours. Please expand upon them... and don't temper your posts. You're a little Houtard, safe as can be.......

Tiger Woods is playing here as I'm typing this.

One of the rare times Tiger Woods actually plays in Houston. Doesn't he normally skip this place when the Shell Houston Open comes around?

Tennis? Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras will be battling out over here in a few months.

    Men's tennis sucks.

If I only had the funds to visit the mormons, it's a shame that there's no way to make any money down here or I would visit you all in utah. Oh well I guess I'm stuck here.

    What is this crap?

    --------

Utah bashing is quite lame in my opinion, I'll take beautiful scenery over feces scented amusement parks anyday...but then again, that's just me...

Houston's still better than Dallas though!

That HOV lane in Dallas is beyond weird...
