    i found this interesting...

the only reason democrats have a chance in this country is b/c all the counties that contain the big cities are blue...

But I guess it makes sense. Most of those living in real small counties in the middle of nowhere are a bunch of uneducated hicks...

And those living in the cities are on welfare looking for handouts, on crack, or criminals...

and if only those people voted, this country would be in pretty good shape

i figure that people in big citites actually interact with a people of different races and different backgrounds. we have a better view on the world than those people living in the corn fields of nebraska, middle of nowhere idaho, or jasper, texas

Really? I always believed not everyone should vote. Some people aren't smart enough and have no grasp of the political system, the candidates or the issues. Only people educated of the system should vote, imo.

There should be some sort of literacy test in order to vote. Maybe a poll tax as well. ;)

    Obviously, an educated post.

Seriously, if you're going to guess at least make it an educated guess. Some of these over-achieving TX school districts in counties out in the middle of nowhere have 80% or greater student population of economically underprivileged "hicks." Lesson for the day: poverty and/or a rural or isolated environment aren't necessarily synonymous with lack of education. Like they say, "What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger."

    It's a tossup between hicks and latte-sipping, sushi-eating, Hollywood-craving, fancy-pants lib-snobs.

Come on man, have you ever even considered that it's that very attitude that's turning people off from the left? Instead of assuming that people who don't vote your way are ignorant or worse, stupid, why don't you try to make a positive difference that could change minds?

    What an offensive thread.

Edit: And the map seems misleading too. Since when did we vote for president by county? If you're going to break it down that far, keeping going down to the individual.

and im not a democrat or republican

but after just watching the republican debate ( i know im a litte late)....every SINGLE one of them said something about God or Jesus Christ. Why is that relevant??? i just find it really sad to me. if you're running as a republican and you dont say it, you're screwed. you can be the most qualified person to be president (imo Bill richardson-NM/john mccain) but if you dont say jesus christ is my savior, you have No shot.....McCain said it and he knows better, but he had to say it....

There are VERY few people of different races and religions in small town america...thats why i said i expcet them to be red...im not suprised

Why isn't it relevant? They are trying to show who they are and that is a major part of who they are (or at least who they are trying to show themselves to be).

wow ... generalize much? How can what you said not be offensive? I guess they shouldn't be allowed to vote anyway if they are uneducated. Should we have some kind of test to prevent them from voting?

My guess is that you've watched too many movies. There are plenty of small towns in America with a lot of hard working, intelligent people, but I think you are probably way too much of a snob to see that.

I could never live in a small town and I will always be a big-city kind of guy, but that doesn't mean people in the smallest towns are all hicks. Do you think the majority of people in the big city are any more educated and/or intelligent? That is very scary if you do. There is plenty of ignorance and lack of intelligence everywhere I go in the big cities to know that it has more than its fair share.
