It seems to me that there are more people on this BBS that would rather harp on the negatives than praise the positives of the Rocket's game last night. How about Cato's game (I know, I've complained about him plenty of times, but he seems to have changed his attitude) or Francis's obviously improved game? How about KT's unbelievable quickness & aggresiveness? Is it me or does Mobley seem to be even quicker? How about the overall team defense? How about our rebounding? How about those blocked shots? Even though our offense wasn't up to it's usual level, how about the fact that we won the game anyway? The point of this thread is to find out how many of you would rather complain about, than praise the Rockets.
CriscoKidd, Are you saying that I should've had more options to choose from? This is actually a frustration poll on my part. The Rocket's game last night was great for a first game (considering that our projected rotation never really played together during the preseason) & we won it. It just seems to me that the majority of the posts I've been reading today have wanted to talk about the negatives of the game, instead of the many, many positives. If Cato continues to play at the level he's played at through the preseason & first game, this team is going to be great this year. I can't wait to see how effective the team will be when Rice gets his legs under him.
There's a happy, natural balance. That's what this place is for....the good and the bad. Make no mistake though, Trolls still suck.
im just playin with ya hottodie. I just like a lil of both is all. Naturally, I like more good than bad, but there is always room for improvement. Rockets are undefeated!!
I think some of the negativity comes from listening to the media, specifically reading the Houston Chronicle. Did you guys read the same articles I did today? One of them basically said, "No wonder only 9,500 people showed up to the game. This team sucks." I tell you what. If only that many people are gonna buy tickets to lots of the other games, I'm just gonna walk over to the Summit, buy some cheap-seat tickets on game day, and try to scoot up somewhere close enough to be heard!
I'm stuck in time, but my coaches always taught me to be a student, not a fan of the game. Negatives and positives are vital to improvement. We always have to look at the big picture. We won which was great. We got very good production out of the pivot spot, 18pts-19rebs. The turnovers are still hurting us and we still need production out of the 3 spot. Its 1 game and this is a marathon, but we can't play like that against a quality team in the west and expect to win. Atlanta is going to be a good eastern conference team, but in the west they would be like us, a team that has to fight , scratch and claw every game to have a chance for the post season.
I think many of the "negative" threads are the result of our excitement for the new season. We have high expectations and deservedly so. We should praise the Rocks, but it is also natural to want to look for ways for our team to improve and get frustrated when they perform below their potential. I was thrilled with Cato's performance last night, Cat's in the first half, and Griffin's in limited minutes. But anyone who watched that game, knows it was UGLY. I think the comments on this board accurately reflect the good and the bad.
Cato played a great game. We're all shocked. If he has 30 more like it, I'll take back 85% of all the bad things I've ever said about him. And we're 1-0. Better than half the teams in the league .
We're critics.... It's our freakin job!! It sure as heck is fun too!!! why do you think some of these people enjoy sittin in front of this forum 24/7 ?
