A major sports website and its pasty sixth-string NBA columnist offer a ranking, 1-30, of the best GMs in the NBA. The column is sharp, well-researched, insightful, and has a couple of bad jokes thrown in. It also might be the best document online regarding NBA personnel types in 2007.

The column is also 11,000 words long. Each GM's breakdown numbers anywhere from 200 to 400 words long.

    Do you read it?

You're writing style isn't boring, scornful (Rosen) or totally biased (Kerr) therefore i'd definitely give it a go.

Don't dumb yourself down for the masses, dude. At the end of they day, you want to say you did it your way, right?

I'd read it under one condition: you dare not name McHale #1 like Forbes did. :)

Yes...but I'm biased and a basketball junkie since BBall is the only sport on the planet. What would keep my attention and leave me with a favorably impression? Well written, unbiased, and revealing (ie..no punches pulled).

If Kobe is traded by the Lakers then do me a favor and put Mitch Kubchak behind Isiah Thomas for last place will you?

    Thanks :D

Only a couple of bad jokes? I expect at least one bad joke per GM. I expect a lot more out of you, Kelly, I really do...

As long as you overburden it with tired pop-cultural references to 80's movies and MTV reality shows, a lot of talk in second-person plural, lame in-joke references to columns past, and an overall schtick that got tired 4 years ago I will definitely read it. Definitely.

If it's as you advertise it, sure. But often times it's not.

I would at least scan it over, and if it didn't look too ridiculous, I would look into it more deeply.

Rank them 1-30, but when you present them in the article, start off by showing the worst 5, then the best 5, then everyone else in between. Most people probably only care about the best and worst GMs, and if a team is in between, only fans of their own teams will take a look there.

That way you will keep the interest of the reader for atleast half the article.

During the off-season alot of people crave anything basketball related. I would read it because I would be interested but if it cant hold my attention 5 GM's down I would switch to something else.
