I don't see why rockets need a salary dump unless you're les Alexander. We're not going to go under the cap for at least the next 5 years. It's getting rid of a starting pointguard for a trouble maker that parties too much in chicago. Imagine what he'll do in Houston.

I heard some rumors saying Bucks is seriously going after Chauncy Billups and also many reports that Artest is not coming to Houston.. So I am going to revised one of my previous suggestions:

    Free Agent
    * Sign Mo William with MLE (If Bucks can get Chauncy, they don't need Mo William)
    * Sign CWeb with LLE

    Trades
    * Head + Snyder + Our #26 for a S&T Darko Millicic
    * Rafer + Justin Reed for Mcdyss (Detroit might lose Billups, so they need another point guard)
    * Sura + Lucas for another sf/guard swingman (To teams that need some cap relieve)

    Re-sign
    * Hayes, Bonzi, Mutombo

    Starting Line Up/Back Up

    Mo William (James/Vspan)
    Tmac (James/Bonzi)
    Battier (Tmac/Bonzi/Novak)
    Darko (Mcdyss/Cweb/Hayes)
    Yao (Cweb/Darko/Mutombo)

Good thing they would never do that horrible deal.

I think we need Snyder. We need a guy who will drive to the basket and draws fouls when the long range shoots won't fall. I think Kirk will play more minutes with Adelman

If we want to get a good PF with good upside who can play defense & offense, our best bet is to move up and draft someone. We really don't have a choice this year. Bigs generally are paid too much, and this is not a good free agent market for PFs, so those out there may get way overpaid. For the same reason, anyone trying to trade a PF will be asking for an arm and leg.

If we want to find a PF who could contribute now and be long-term answer, our only option is the draft. Any other PF will be a stop gap, and I'm not sure we'll win a 1st round playoff series with a stop-gap PF.

I really don't have confidence to rookies. In my opinion Wilcox would be the best option but we would probably give Battier for him. I would be happy with tha trade only if we get Ron Artest or some good SF.

I am under the assumption that management intends to make a quick fix on the run to make this team a championship contender. That being said, going into the offseason there were two key weaknesses identified: pg and pf.

the pg situation has at least for the moment, been given a little added offensive spark. alston, james and some spanoulis gives this team alot of different looks, so at least for the time being lets say that management has put a band-aid on our pg situation.

that leaves pf as a key area of concern. coupled that with the fact we traded away a key reserve at the position and to me it indicates that another move for a pf is in the works.

also, bonzi wells can kiss my ass...good riddance as far as I'm concerned.

    TRADE:

    Battier + Sura + #26 for Camby.

This gives us a legit starting PF alongside Yao to do some serious dirtywork. He was the defensive player of the year, which could drive his asking price a little higher than what I've offered here...but all things being equal this satisfies every need Denver has this offseason (i.e., cap relief, outside shooting and a draft pick [they dont currently own one]). he has a history of injury concerns...but the rewards outweigh the risks as Cambys game compliments Yao to a T. Camby can play both PF and C, so signing a project at C becomes an affordable luxury.

    SIGN:

    Matt Carrol
    Chuck Hayes

I would give Carrol a healthy portion of the MLE. Somewhere in the ballpark of 3.5-4 million. We can use Hayes' bird rights to sign him beyond the MLE. I am avoiding going too nuts here and shelling out the full MLE on one player and then signing Hayes on top of that. The last thing this team needs is to shackle itself to more long-term deals on marginal talent. This is a small shroud move to add a shooter with size that can get off his own shot.

    Jalen Rose
    Steve Francis (?)

This team still would have the LLE as well as the bi-annual exception at its disposal (which are basically for the same amount). Rose never really got minutes in PHX, but could still be a solid contributor for the right price. Francis is still a long-shot considering his buy-out situation is still in the air. You can't sit around and wait to spend part of your MLE, so either the LLE or Bi-Annual would do here if he does become available. The hometown discount is not unrealistic. If he doesn't get bought out this could be used for some added depth at the PF/C position.

pg - alston, james, v-span, lucas
    sg - carrol, francis(?), head
    sf - t-mac, rose, snyder
pf - camby, hayes, novak, reed
    c - yao ,camby, hayes

lucas and reed on IR. not including francis that's a 12 man roster.

my final move would be to buy the #29 pick and invest in another euro you can let stay overseas like kapponen or splitter.

I would propose a trade with Atlanta.

We get Speedy Claxton and Sheldon Williams.

They get Rafer Alston and Bob Sura.

    Why Atlanta does it:

They have been looking for a PG for a long time, and it didnt work out at all with Speedy last year. With Rafer they get someone more adept at running a team, and his shooting isnt that much worse then Speedy's. They also save a couple million bucks over the next three years with Rafer's contract versus Speedy's. They get additional cap relief with Sura's contract. More importantly, they only need Rafer to handle the fort for a couple years while they work the PG they draft (Conley, Law or Crittenden) into the starting role, and Rafer can do that.

Also they are loaded with bigs. Pachulia and Lorenzen Wright are there to play Center. At PF, they have Shelden Williams, Marvin Williams, and are likely to draft either Horford or Wright. I dont think they are willing to admit drafting Williams over CP3 and Deron was a mistake yet.

    Why Houston does it:

No we dont want the Speedy Claxton contract, but he at least has proved to be a good backup PG, which he would be to James. More importantly, we get a rebounding, shot blocking PF, who doesnt need to score to be effective. He is the bruiser we have wanted, and is locked up in his rookie deal for at least two more years.

Gives us a starting lineup of Yao, Williams, Battier, Tmac, and James.

The deal works as is, and also with us adding Head and them adding Salim Stoudemire, if Atlanta needs more back.

What about L.Head and our 26th pick for their 11th pick.

    OR

Head and #26 for Sheldon Williams and Solomon Jones. We select for them so the salaries can match.

Either way they get an experienced player with excellent range and we get some much needed help at the 4.

    Sacramento Kings

    Incoming Players
    Photo: John Lucas
    John Lucas
    Salary: $700,000 Years Remaining: 3

    Shane Battier
    Salary: $5,393,300 Years Remaining: 5
    PTS: 10.1 REB: 4.1 AST: 2.1 PER: 12.05

    Outgoing Players: Ron Artest

    Salary: $7,526,316 Years Remaining: 3
    PTS: 18.8 REB: 6.5 AST: 3.4 PER: 18.59

Outgoing Players: John Lucas, Shane Battier

I think this is a fair trade. Sacramento gets a decent back up point guard and one a defensive minded player who doesn't have a criminal history. They lose some offense, but Shane has proven he can score if set up.
We take a gamble on Ron and if it works out great, if it doesn't its we can trade him since his contract ends in 2 seasons. Plus Rick A. is trying to convince Morey to bring Artest over already.

^^ I agree. Artest for Lucas and Battier works for me. But now we have to think about PF. Who can we bring if we give up Battier for Ron? Free Agent? Maybe

How about Kevin Garnett? Minny talks now with Suns about Amare for Garnett but is there any chance of singin' KG?

This morning on 610, they were reporting that Rashard might be stuck in seattle for another two seasons because his new agent forgot to submit something by a june 1st deadline. I can't find anything and im surprised that there isnt a thread about this. but they talked about it for a few minutes. did anyone else hear this?

    i know its phoenix but....

They send Amare and a late 1st rounder and Marcus Banks for KG.

They then send Marion and Barbosa and another 1st rounder for Kobe.

    Kevin Garnett
    Kurt Thomas
    Boris Diaw
    Kobe Bryant
    Steve Nash

Thats a nasty starting 5. who cares about the bench.

I don't think it could happen. Now we know Kobe won't join Suns. If I were Suns GM I wouldn't make that deal. why? Cause Amare is 24 and KG is better nut he's 31

Ya i know what you're saying about the Amare KG Thing, but Amare also had microfracture and he hasn't been able to get them over the hump yet. This team needs to change or break up soon. Nash will only be around so long.

I think if KG got to Phoenix first and kobe had the chance to join him and Nash i dont see him turning it down.

Marion and Barbosa and 2 1st rounders for Kobe is fair, better than what the Lakers got for Shaq.

Amare and a 1st for KG Is also pretty fair...

Its just impressive that Phoenix has that many trade assets as well.

I honestly like Mikki Moore the guy can block, rebound, shoot and post up a little. Didn't notice this but on the nba website it said he had the highest shooting percentage in the league. Plus I don't think his stock is too high so we can get him for a fair amount of money.

    pg: Vspan
    sg: Artest/Tmac
    sf: Artest/Tmac
    pf: Moore
    C: Yao

I think that is a good line up Moore can play in and out plus Moore can run and pass which is good for Yao especially.

damn that's one crazy good team although phoenix can trade for those two guys, they are looking to CUT salary, not spent almost 40 million on two new guys. 52 million counting nash. 61 million counting diaw. yeah that's 61 million dollars they would spend next year on 4 GUYS alone to make your hypothetical team. We might as well call em the Yankees while we're at it.
