I was talking to someone about my wife and it dawned on me that she's like the exact opposite of me.

She's a devout Atheist...I try to be a devout Baptist

She's a staunch liberal on almost all issues and has already declared her loyalty to Hillary...I'm pro-McCain and a staunch conservative on most issues

Shes a early sleeper, late riser...I'm a late sleeper, early riser

    What about yours?

she's a details person..i'm much more big picture oriented. that's our biggest difference. and it frames the way we approach problems. for a while, it caused arguments...sometimes it still does...but ultimately i see it as invaluable.

i wake up early, naturally...she wakes up late, naturally.

She tends to stress about things, I tend to stress about nothing. She cannot keep a plant alive. She does not like dogs. She does not like to fish. She does not really like baseball. She does not like cream gravy on her mashed potatoes. She is incredibly intelligent, but sometimes lacks a bit of common sense.

That, and a pair of testicles.

    LOL! :D Master Baiter... :D

I was about to post "she has a vageegee and I have a pee-pee" but you stole my thunder... damn you, early posters...

    Fatty - PERV *ss. ;)

She's financially aware and I am not good with our finances... on weekends, she likes to get up early and I like to stay in bed... I like to be around crowds and she likes to be alone (maybe 'cuz I have a huge number of relatives here in the U.S. and A. and she has only maybe 4 or 5)... I like to hear my surround sound configured to its max potential, while she just wants to hear the sound regardless... I am so technically-oriented (aren't we all, men?) I would put my relatives/family before money/fame but she could give a rat's booty about it, so... yeah, I guess we are somewhat the opposite of each other...

 OMFG, I married opposite ME!!!!!

-She's an extrovert, I'm an introvert.

-She has horrible taste in music, I, on the other hand, have GREAT taste in music.

-She doesn't like sports, I do (duh).

-She's always cold, I'm always hot. (this drives me crazy!)

-She's a cellphone junkie, I'm lucky if I remember to turn mine on.

-She likes to lay out and get tan, I'm as pale as John Stockton and avoid the sun at all cost.

-She lays her clothes for the next day out the night before, I grab them out of the hamper 10 minutes before I walk out the door.

We actually have more in common than we have differences, belive it or not.

What makes my GF different from me?

She can't cook to save her life, while I am a pretty damn good cook.
She listens to a wide variety of music, while my musical tastes are pretty rigid.
She kills all plants she tries to grow, while I am a bigtime gardener.
She eats way healthier than I do.
She stays positive and upbeat, while I find that hard to do sometimes.

She keeps me focused on the long term job of raising kids... if it was up to me I'd just do fun things all the time and my kids would grow up with lots of good knowledge about lots of different things, but they wouldn't know how to eat with company or tactfully converse with others and they'd be going to bed really late, etc.

She's also a great baker (as my pants size proves), a belly dancer, fencer, pilot, hates shopping, likes wine, is willing to trim my ever-increasing Einsteinian eyebrow hairs, tends to the family budget and allowed me to get a 37 inch HDTV for Fathers Day.

Not to mention we have similar educations, sleep schedules, and politics... and we're in sync with books and TV... we only fight over movies (she has extremely bad taste in film) and my occasionally bad housekeeping habits.

    - She loves the sun/hanging out by the pool. I'm an IT dork that can't stand to be in the sun for more than a few minutes

    - I'm tight with money and always worry about it. She'll go spend her paycheck in one day and not think twice about it

    - She's an awesome cook, I screw up hot pockets

    - She's Christian, I am definitely not

    - She's the most extroverted person I know, I'm a total introvert

    - I love sports, she'll tolerate me watching them but thats about it

    - She doesn't like Anchorman or Dodgeball. This could be the reason we eventually break up. ;)

She lives in New York City and I live in Houston! (Yeah it sucks)

She's Puerto Rican and I'm white.

I drink malt liquor and she drinks Jameson and Guiness (at the same time)

I like a little doobage now and again, she likes adderall and the like (yechh)

Reading this thread makes me realize how lucky I am. My boyfriend and I actually have most of that stuff in common: both Christian, both somewhat conservative (he is more extreme about it). We both like music including some of the same stuff, a lot of the same movies, keep the house at a moderate temperature, can get up early or late depending on what works, etc.

He is more outgoing. I'm not extremely shy but have trouble starting things or confronting people.

I'm tighter with money, but I'm the main one in charge of it so it all works out OK. :) (He's slightly neater than I am, but he's the main one in charge of cleaning so that works too. :D )

I like pets more than he does, but neither of us wants to keep any of our own.

We both like the country better than the city, and don't go to many crowded places.

I guess our main difference is that he decides things on the spur of the moment, and I plan everything out. But we are both seeing the good qualities in the other one and trying to pick those up for ourselves; I'm learning how to not take so long making decisions, and he's working on planning his days out to get things done.
