Is working out for the Rockets -------------------------------------------------------------- "Ukrainian big man Kyrylo Fesenko has decided to stay in the draft, according to his agent, Jason Levien. Fesenko is getting quite a bit of buzz right now, and he's a sleeper for the late first round. He measured 7-1½ in shoes at a recent workout, had a 7-foot-4 wingspan and weighed 270 pounds. He's an excellent athlete with a low-post game resembling that of Andris Biedrins. He's already worked out for the Kings and the Bulls, and he has upcoming workouts with the Suns, Clippers, Sixers, Rockets and Hawks." ---------------------------------------------------------------- Haven't heard him before, but a Biedrans type of player would be a very nice compliment to Yao at the PF spot. There's about a 0 percent chance that you will be able to play a 7-1 270lb C (unless he is shaquille o'neal style freak of nature- in which case he would be the consensus 1 pick) next to Yao and be able to compete with the athletic PF's of the Western conference - they should just rename the team the Hoston Plodkets. (Biedrins is listed at 245 but I doubt he is even that heavy)
sounds too big and slow to play PF. there will be reports that the rockets workout a lot of people. doesn't allways mean that they are leaning towards that guy. IMO, the rockets have to work players out in order to apear like they are planning on using the pick. if teams knew that morey was looking to move it no matter what, then they would have leverage in trade talks. mark my words, the pick will be traded on draft night in a package containing a combo of our low-cost players (sura, billy, snyder, head).
True, he appears to be a good prospect for anyone who will pick him in the end of first round nonetheless...
Fesenko looks well proportioned like that of a regular height person. A lot these guys over 6-11 look at 250 look lanky. http://www.sigdomain.com/draftexpress_3.mp3
it's kind've funny you brought him up. I was just digging up some info on the guy when I was looking at Chad Ford's PF rankings in the up coming draft. he has him at #9 behind McRoberts (although I don't really see McRoberts projecting out to be an NBA PF...similar to Battier and Walton). Here's the best I could find on him courtesy of draftexpress there's an interesting tidbit at the bottom about detroit trying to "hide" him overseas so they could draft him late in the 2nd. definitely an interesting prospect if we could buy an early 2nd.
and from out of nowhere ford has fesenko slipping into the first round at #29 (to the suns) in his latest mock. he must have really turned some heads with his workout. but I guess as they say, this time of year it'll be the big guys that will get the most hype and start moving up the board.
