You guys have the worst color commentator in the league. Calvin Murphy is possibly the only man in the NBA that makes Todd Lichti (the Nugs color commentator on away games) look good. How do you guys stand his babbling?!? On another note, I only got to watch part of the game (overlapped with the Nugs slapping the Suns around), but you guys look pretty good. Congrats on the win.
He isn't that bad.. I think he makes the game fun,besides he's a Rocket legend so we cut em some slack.
He's definately an acquired taste, but I've actually missed his rambling and ego stroking during the off season.
Blasphemy! Once you get past his antics, Calvin Murphy is one of the most knowledgable minds in the game of hoops. He's forgotten more stuff about basketball than most people can remember. He almost <i>always</i> says the right things during games. I can't count how many times he has said that a certain player should get shoot the ball, and that player shot the ball and made it... He could easily get a head coaching job in the NBA, but he has the sweetest gig in the world... Oh, and we did not look good at ALL, except for overtime. We were lucky to win that game...
I find myself trying to ignore them. He and Bill kept showing those pictures while the game was going. I'd much rather watch the game as oppose to looking at cartoon pictures of Bill and Calvin.
Hey, like I said, I was only flipping on during commercials of the Nugs game so I have limited knowledge so far. Just know you looked ok when I was watching.
You think he is bad now. You should of heard him when he first started. Anytime this, anytime that. Every sentence started with anytime and ended with anytime. I actually enjoy listening to him now and he is a sharp dresser.
Boy, those Denver announcers are just thrilling! By the way, this game was a compliment to the Rockets. They played horrible basketball, and still managed to pull out the victory. Great win. Bill and Calvin are the best announcing combo in the league. Calvin makes even blowout games entertaining. Bill does an excellent job playing along with all his jokes. Have you even heard the Jazz combo? Or the Minnesota announcers? And by far, the worst color commentary comes from Danny Ainge. Uhh, I can't stand that whiney voice. It's too bad that a great announcer like Kevin Harlen is stuck with Ainge.
yeah I love em 2 no matter how much the rocks are down calvin always has a plan for them to score 10 points in 1.5 sec's...... there home grown Houston anoucers....I could see why people not rock fans would not like them......but I feel 90% of houston fans love these guys...
Calvin and Bill rule. I can see though how some people might find them annoying. Like Rocket Addict said they are definitely an acquired taste. The worst announcer by far belong to the Twolves. Biggest bunch of idiotic homers I have ever seen in my life.
Kevin "right between the eyes" Harlen, that guy really gets on my nerves, Thats why I think that announcers are an aquired taste. The Jazz announcers are not that bad, just keep in mind that what they are saying is being played over the radio also. I also appreciate how they will praise a good play by the other team. Like all those times the rockets smoked them. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. Seriously they were pretty good about it.
Calvin is a great announcer....when he's not making a mockery of the game. The producer of the game really needs to keep a tighter leash on Calvin. I just get really aggrevated when the camera is focused on Bill and Calvin showing stupid caricatures of themselves and joke about it for minutes on end while the defense is preparing for the inbound or positioning themselves for a free throw. Another thing, why is it that Fox Sports SW is a much quieter station than ALL of the other Fox Sports stations?????

ZRB, dude, Kevin Harlan is HORRIBLE The dude's almost as annoying as Stuart Scott. He uses 4 metaphors over and over and over, that's it. WHAT THE HELL COULD YOU POSSIBLY LIKE ABOUT THAT LOSER?
Calvin is annoying at times, sure. But at least he has a personality and and connects with most of the players. They seem to genuinly like him. I have seen plenty of these boring commentators who don't bother to establish any uniqueness about them. Plus, Calvin is perfect next to Worrell. Those two are so diametrically opposed, they work great together. Now if only they would stop showing those stupid ass pictures of each other.
I still don't get why you hate Harlan so much. Just because he likes to say "flamethrower" (which I don't remember him saying tonight while I was watching) and a few other things sort of often doesn't take away from the excitement and energy he brings to a game. He wouldn't get to announce every freakin' nba game on tnt and do other sports if he wasn't good and people didn't like him. Actually when did he become such a hot announcing commodity, was it right after his "with no regard for human life" call of that garnett dunk. Anyway, I think Kevin is good. But after you diss Kevin, you then take a shot at Stuart Scott. I guess some people just aren't into all the little phrases he likes to use but I find them mostly to be hilarious and definitely a unique thing on sportscenter. He and Rich Eisen together are perfect, sort of like Bill and Calvin. So I think the moral of the story is, Bill and Calvin are awesome and I hate not living in Houston to watch the games.
Well I know this might not agree with most everyone but I think Walton is funny. I think he is just horrible on NBC, it's almost like he's a totally different person but on clipper games he's pretty funny. I guess becuase he's always making fun of the clippers which is the team he's doing the commenting for. He's just makes bad plays sound like the worst play ever made in the history of the NBA or he'll make a good play sound like the it's the best play ever and like it's never been done before, it's really funny. And before last year he always sided with the rockets. Well just my opinion but then again I never heard anyone else except for chick which seems to get player names mixed up alot and those NBC guys which keep things so straight forward. What does Calvin say, is he hyper and talk fast? I only seen him on inside stuff, does he always were those shiny pinstrip suits? He looks really fun to hear and see.
