I would tend to believe Rafer will be shipped out in a deal for a 4. For 1,VSpan is going to open some eyes with the ball in his hands initiating the offense.I see him growing under Adelman. Until then,we have to make sure our depth is quality at the 1. Les,CD,Morey,Rick Adelman........ They will make sure that this time we're not going to a gunfight with a knife. The Rockets are poised for multiple title runs if we continue to put the team together this way and stay healthy. Grab the 4,another1,and a swingman.Upgrade athleticism across the board.
I love your optimism, but I have no basis for believing that Les, CD, and Morey are going to work miracles. Personally, based on recent history, I am not sure they can find their butts with both hands ergo the James/Alston trade.
I happen to believe that those 3 couldn't find their butts if they were locked in a closet together with flashlights and a drawing showing where the butt is located on the human body.
This deal makes more and more sense: Sura + Rafer for Camby. 1. Denver is waay into lux tax next year as Melo's extension kicks in and they still pay max money for K-Mart and AI 2. Denver hes zero (0) point guards under contract. 3. Rumor is that Steve Blake is looking for a big payday, unlikely Denver brings him back. 4. Denver is loaded with big men: Camby, Nene, K-Mart, Reggie Evans, Kleiza, Najera 5. George Karl coached Rafer for three years at Milwakee, he knows him. 6. The deal simultaneously cuts Denver's payroll, becuase of Sura, and brings them a starting PG. 7. Sura+Alston may look like too little for the reigning DPOY, however, it is quite obvious to everyone that Camby's stock is at an all-time high and can only go down from here. If he has another couple of years like the this last one, Rockets come out winners, however, it is also very possible that he blows his knee/back again and is just another hobbled big guy in his mid-thirties for the rest of his contract. It's a very viable deal. Now imagine the AI+Skip backcourt 10 years ago, wouldn't that be something to watch....
MJ will be coming off the bench, playing Head's role. Rafer will start. Head will be packaged with some other players to trade for a starting PF. can't believe there are so many fans who wants to start MJ over Rafer....are you kidding me?? MJ is a ball hog..and he can't even get along with KG, and worst of all, he can't create offense/pass the ball to Yao. we over played Rafer in the playoff, so MJ is a welcome addition for a back PG/SG. but trade away Rafer just because MJ is here? hell no !
MJ is like an older/upgraded/more expensive version of L.Head.....he's a gunner, not a pure PG... I think by signing MJ, we are probably going to trade Head away, Head does have some value on the market.
This is r****ded, who do you think plays PG in case Mike James needs a break or gets injured? Luther "Look Ma, No Handles!" Head? John "Carlton from Fresh Prince" Lucas? Vassilis "My name is Greek for 'Turnovers'" Spanoulis?
I would really like to see what V-Span can do. I don't think he was given a fair chance in the NBA. I was watching the preseason Video on V-span and this is what I took away from it. I think the guy has extremely quick hands and feet. He is able to establish position in taking a charge and that's no small feat in the NBA. He's very good defensively and stripping the ball away from the opposing team's guards. I think he turned the ball over a lot but that's getting used to the speed of the NBA. One more thing, V-span turnovers vs Alston's missed shots. Which one is worse? Isn't a missed shot from Alston about the same as a turnover from V-Span? Could V-Span outscore Alston in a 40 minute period? If so then V-Span and his turnovers might completely offset Alston and his shooting. In which case, you'd want V-Span starting instead of Alston or at least splitting minutes. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BH7bvPMOyUg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BH7bvPMOyUg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
