If he does go to the Mavs he may have to sit in the upper deck at the games. They have more asst coaches than players it seems like.

I don't see how people can be upset about Elie going to coach with a different team when they can't even spell his last name.

I'd rather Adelman choose a staff that he's most comfortable working with and that can get the most out of the system he implements and the players that will be on this team. If Elie doesn't fit that bill, so be it.

Sometimes its best to have different mentalities on a staff, more ideas, alternatives, and schemes may evolve. Some players may take more from a certain style of coach than another. I am sure Adelman prefers a staff he is most comfortable with. Doesn't mean its better.

    I'm with Denniscd and TTRocket..

I dont uderstand what makes Elie so special... has he shown to be a valuable assistant on any team? has he shown to make progress with teams's players?

take off the Homer glasses, and he's just another guy trying to land an assistant job...he needs the job more than Houston needs him...

From what I've read Adelman's son isn't coach. He was a scout with the Kings and more recently the Sonics. His role was reviewing tape at both places.

Berman said Adelman's son will be the 4th assistant coach/scout. He will be of the assistants who sit behind the coach during the games not next to him. Kinda like Ward was last year.

Apparently with Golden State he was a big part of taking Monta Ellis from project to borderline star. He is regarded as a good guard's coach. He might have been good for someone like Spanoulis if he is still with us.

Nepotism literally means employing a nephew in preference to others. However, the word has been abused in the past 30 years and has come to mean any kin, so you get a pass. ;)

Oh he was developed during the year? Elie was with Ellis every step of the way in 05-06. He sat next to him on the bench, and Ellis started playing pretty well at the end of that year. Ellis getting better didn't happen all at once. Apparently the Warriors were seriously considering hiring Mario as head coach before Don Nelson threw his name in the hat. He was very well liked in the Bay Area.
