Elie was supposed to hold a press conference today to talk about his upcoming basketball camp AND to announce which team he would be joining. That has been postponed until Monday. Apparently there are two teams in the running. No word on if the Rockets have even decided they want him yet.

Elie come back to H-Town please don't let Avery convince you to go with him a second time in your lifetime.

I hope he comes to Houston, he can be a big part of the puzzle of the Rockets coaching staff.

If the Rockets offer him a spot, he better take it.

I hope the Rockets organization shows some loyalty and brings Mario on board.

From my view I see Coach 'A' and Coach Jack as rather low key personalities one hopes that Mario would be the counter balance with his winning experience and strong personality
So Mario the Rocket's Fans have wanted you back for so long now and it is about time you return to give something back to the team that helped make you into the icon you are now. :p

If the Rockets offer him a job, and he takes the Mavericks, how can anybody be mad at the Rockets?

it can't be the rockets fault if ellie turns down the rockets offer.

IMO, they should've spoken to him before turner and sikma. maybe they could've signed him before the other teams had a chance to talk to him...

still i will be upset with ellie for leaving the rockets offer on the table for the mavs, or any other team for that matter.

What can Mario bring to the rockets? Be specific. I'm curious to know.

You know, Pat Riley, Scott Brooks, Mike Woodson, Avery Johnson and Mike Dunleavy are all former Rockets now in coaching. I've always been a big Mario fan, but I don't get people being upset about him coaching for someone else.

Players, coaches, staff - they move around in this league. It's just the nature of the business. You guys are freaking RUTHLESS when it comes to trading away players. You are BRUTAL on guys when they don't produce. But then you get all sentimental over a former player possibly working as an assistant coach?

    What is up with that?

    I agree with Jeff.

I loved Mario as a player, but what has he done to warrant all the love for him as a coach?

Just seeing him on the sidelines brings back fond memories...and helps ease the pain.

Good luck to Mario whatever he decides. He earned my respect during the Clutch City years and still has it now. I'm neutral on wanting him to join the Rockets staff.

$10 says we lose him over a trade kicker.

if it means that we'll get him back by sending out an overaged, overpaid power forward I say do it!
