Shane hasn't lost any value. We just overlook the fact that we paid dollars on the penny for him. Now we must live with his true value.

The team need a lot of things. They simply can't afford them. This is a lesson of economics 101. They need to take a risk. Wish Ron can be that Rodman on Bulls uniform.

Artest is someone you gamble on for a minimum price, not someone you rely on.

By all means, spend your disposable income at the strip club for a good time. But divorcing your wife to marry a stripper is generally not a good idea.

I think S. B. deserve a defensive-minded all star to trade for. He can be a part of trade for Somebody like Shawn Marion, Billups but not R. Lewis.

Looking quickly and not being super-analytical, those are actually some very realistic proposals. A downside and a variable...the variable is who will be there at the lower-numbered pick AND interrelated...will SAC demand that pick if you really want/think Artest is a possibility.

I am 100% on board with the wife and a stripper friend on the side (see: Rodriguez, Alex).

But if your stripper friend has a history of being flaky, you need to make sure you have the wife to fall back to.

New Jack I was surprised to even hear about the Jack/Outlaw scenario. As far as the latter examples I doubt that anyone will give anything in the 14-17 pick range.

Ron artest does everything Battier does.........and does it better
Plus the 20 points a game, thats not to bad
If we had Artest and Battier in the lineup, our defense would be so ferocious its ridiculous. We wouldnt need a Power Forward....

Battier's value isn't much. Maybe if he is packaged with a first round pick/Head we can get a good player though.

Keep Battier! He has a great contract, I don't see how we would get equal value.

I for one hope we keep Battier, as a coach myself I see so many things in him that are very important to a team. He is a very versitile defender and workhorse, not to mention all of the character traits he brings to the table. I think most of us thought he would score a little more, but my guess is Van Gundy wasn't pushing him to be much of a scorer.

Battier is of GREAT value to a contender(such as ourselves). The better the team the more important Battier is.He is just about untouchable as far as I'm concerned seeing as we wouldn't get enough back and that I see him being an important cog on our title teams.

Again,Shane would have to go to one of the best teams in the League to get fair value even if we wanted to deal him which probably would call for a 3 way....highly unlikely that Batman is going anywhere.

I understand that Artest is a great player, but I just don't think he's worth the cancer in the locker room. How many teams that he has been on have won a championship?? I really thought it may be worth it at one time, but I think we can make other key acquisitions that would be better moves.

I've never said Battier was involved in Rumors for Artest. I was just responding to something DD said.

Personally, I wouldn't trade away Battier unless it's some offer like Marion, Chris Paul and etc..

Trading Battier for a slightly better Artest is not really a good trade in my opinion, all because Artest is such an unstable player. Giving up Battier for a emotional bomb like Artest is just too much..

On the other hand though, if we could get Artest without giving up Battier, then I am all for it.. Consider a team with Yao, Tmac, Artest, Battier and James, it just crazy defensively.

Offensively, we have to wait and see, but technically speaking, that line up considered five guys who could all score 15+ points on any giving night, two guys who shoots 3 points at 40%+, and 3 guys who could penetrate, a dominate center, 3 guys who can create their own shots, two agreesive minded players and 3 mr. nice guys... I would say it's a pretty balanced team..

The only uncertainties though, are chemistry and rebound..

Although, this would be really great for the Rockets. If you are Phoenix or Detroit, why would you trade Marion or Billups for Battier and some fillers? Both of these guys are All Stars, Battier is not even close to being one. He wasn't even on any of the All Defensive Teams. Are you kidding me?

Not really much, it seems like the teams that are seeking trades this offseason are looking for blockbuster players. The only team I could see him fitting perfectly for is Phoenix. I know, I know, the Suns are run and gun but they also do need some bruisers. If they had some force San Antonio wouldn't have powned them so badly. Burn Suns Fans, Burn!

most teams build a champion team over a long time, like spurs and pistons, but we do not have that time, we have to follow miami's model, we have to take some risks .

If we are going to be trading up in this draft to mid to high teens, we have to be targeting Al Thornton. Nobody else is ready to come in and make a signficant contribution to a playoff team. Thornton is the only player that could possible be available in the early teens that is worth trading up for.
