Simple thread really, what are some of your favorite quotes? They can be from movies, books, real people, fictional characters, funny, sad, or whatever. What are some of your favorites? One of mine is: "Anything lost can be found again except time wasted." Samuel L. Jackson said this in the movie Fresh and it has just always stuck with me. I have some more that I will list later.
I know I'm a freak for this, but Dave Matthews has so many that ring true to me. "Everyday should be a good day to die" "Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die" It's been hard for me many times in my life to quit wallowing in self-pity and to realize that no matter what I'm going through, it could be worse. I could not be living at all. Sometimes, I need a wise South African to remind me.
Let schoolmasters puzzle their brains With grammar, and nonsense, and learning, Good liquor, I stoutly maintain, Gives genius a better discerning --- Oliver Goldsmith
Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and **** the prom queen. -John Mason You fire a guy you create a rival. You fire a woman you create a housewife. -Ari Gold
"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." - Albert Einstein
"If you're going through hell, keep going." --Winston Churchill “Never, never, never, never give up.” --Winston Churchill "Dogs look up at you, cats look down on you. Give me a pig. He looks you in the eye and treats you as an equal." --Winston Churchill Churchill inspires like no other.
IMO, the most underrated movie quote ever, by Coach Finstock from Teen Wolf: There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
"I come home you all drunked up Layin out on the bed The only thing that's worse woman is you drinkin Johnny Walker Red I'm tired of bein' carried to the cleaners And hung on out to dry I'm gonna wake up in the mornin' And learn how to say goodbye" Houston's own, the late great Weldon "Juke Boy" Bonner
I've posted this many times, but it's the one quote I try to live by more than anything else: People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may just never be enough; Give the world the best you have anyway. - Kent Keith, but made famous by Mother Teresa repeating it many times.
Work is the curse of the drinking class - Oscar Wilde Is this a gun or are you just glad to see me? - Mae West Everything worth doing, is worth doing slowly - Mae West Some people think they are thinking, but they are only rearranging their prejudices - no idea from whom If you make fooleries, make sure they succeed - no idea again you cannot kickstart a deadhorse - ?
