Man, we're in the news everywhere. With JVG gone, there's no place for Ward on our team. I didn't think he wasn't much help to us anyways. Hello Mario Ellie!

One of my friends is a senior there this coming year. I'll call him and tell him about it.

Couldn't he get a head coaching job for High School. He was a NBA assistant coach for a couple years, yet he couldn't become head coach for High School.

I'm sure UH or Rice would have happily given him an assistant position.

He's probably going to coach football and basketball at Westbury though.

Clearly, he's making a move that fits him, although it's a surprise. It's not like he needs the money. I wish him well.

Isn't Charlie Ward a very hard core (fundamentalist?) christian? I would not be surprised if those considerations were involved in his decision, though I don't know much about Westbury Christian.

sorry, for the double post, samfisher is right about him being christian. my bad... i'm pretty sure ward could have been a head coach to any other high school team, wonder why he accepted the assistant job.

As a few other people have said, you'd think he could have gotten the head coaching job at a high school. Ward wasn't the worst PG in the league on top of being an assistant for a few years. Weird.

They recruit their basketball players though. Ndi? Ebi played there. That guy wasn't even their best rebounder at the time. Westbury has potential to be the best program in Texas. I still can't fathom him taking an assistant job. You'd think Florida state might need someone. A recruiter, assistant coach, QB coach, you name it...

I think it's awesome that Ward wants to be an assistant at a high school here in Houston.

add "varsity team" to that list too...

umm also winning a Heisman should proabably mean you can double as the football coach too...

    Ebi did play there.

Westbury is a very talented High School.

    It's a private school btw.
