True I supposed getting rid of the Juwan-ba-tross has some value.

Once again the biggest idiot is Kevin McHale - who drafted the Rookie of the Year in Roy, for some reason shipped him off to Portland so he could get Foye - who was entirely redudndant of the player he had just signed in James, who in turn was not really a need insofar as they had Troy Hudson and Ricky Davis and Marko Jaric on the team at the time

Basically - he turned Brandon Roy and an open MLE into Randy Foye and Juwan Howard. Horrendous.

Battier will NEVER be traded, he is an owner's dream... good citizen, fundamentally sound, the guy has played for coach K, Van Gundy, Fratello, and Hubie Brown. You can't buy that kind of experience and knowledge. I GUARANTEE, and we can reference this thread, battier will not be traded.
If we are going to land bibby, it'll have to involve Head. I still want Artest....

    Love the trade.

Got rid of an aging PF who was worthless to this team and will hurt us in the future financially.

Finally get a PG/SG who will penetrate to the basket, hit the 3, and won't have 2nd thoughts of taking the shot.

I know he's a knucklehead, but I think it'll smooth down now that he's under the Adelman regime.

I hope he takes Rafer's job at PG and we trade the Reefer for someone who can actually play on this team.

um no. battier is not untouchable. he couldn't defend anybody in the jazz series. JVG had to go to tmac all the time. i like his unselfishness and doing everything attitude for the team. but if we can get bibby, u best believe les will approve of it. but i wouldn't trade mike and battier for him though. unless u add a guy like corliss williamson or a SF

Bibby is not coming to this team, I think one of the bigger reasons we brought in James is his quick footwork which allows him to stay in front of or close to the Deron Williams, Tony Parkers, Devin Harris's and Steve Nash's we'll encounter in the playoffs. His defense can be tremendous when he puts in the effort.

Wow, we should feel quite lucky to be able to get Mike James for JHo. No question this means any of the Rox other PGs could be dealt. I wouldn't mind seeing VSpan and JL3 dealt and keeping Rafer as a backup. I wouldn't be surprised the Rox actually go after a SG then PF in that order either through draft or free agency combined with more trades. Having VSpan, JL3, Luther, and Kirk in some sort of package or separately could land a 1st or a couple of 2d round draft picks if not for another veteran (Artest, Bibby, Rashard, etc and draft a PF?).

    I agree.

Great trade. James does have some of the same qualities that a Bobby Jackson has but James is younger and not as much of an injury problem.

Oh I definitely agree. Howard's had some trouble getting into a proper rhythm after Yao came back, but it wasn't due to a lack of effort or inability to accept. James is the type of player who'd bristle at the thought of a reduced role.

I like the trade because I think we're filling a greater need, but I still contend that we're sacrificing some brains for greater talent.

Ronny said it best, Bibby's not coming to our team. He is too expensive, and he's not worth that cash anymore. Obviously Battier's not untouchable, but it would take a lot to pry him away from us. I repeat, he will NOT BE TRADED.

HillBoy = McEnroe? Have we ever seen them in the same place at the same time? I haven't. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

Not having to play Rafer Alston 40+ minutes a night?

    Yeah, it's like that.

Whoa whoa whoa... James is useful, but let's not go crazy here... he didn't exactly get the Rocket over the hump the first time around and played for 2 lotto team since.

We'lll see what happens, for now, I'm just glad we won't have to see JL, Head, Span at PG.

He at least put some firepower at the PG position. Rafer freaking sucks.

i dont think our D was the problem. we handled deron as well as any team did in the playoffs.

but we didnt make deron defend. he was shadowed fisher/giri/ak47 w/ tmac. mike james will make him defend him. and if he's open, mike is lethal.

but i love to keep battier though and head too. i prefer to trade the pick or any of our bench players.

In other news, Leslie Alexander and the Rockets front office confirm that Juwan Howard is quitting basketball in Houston to explore the vacant Minnesota State Screamin' Eagle head coach posiition...or spending some time at the Mayo Clinic, or....something of his own invention, and nothing to do with them.

I'm willing to bet you $20 that Battier will be traded within the next month.
