SCF- put it to rest. The Rock is a draw. He's a second-tier action star (are there first-tier any more?) which is enough to make money in a movie. He's a sex symbol- just ask my wife, my sisters, my mother...probably, your mother, too. He's charismatic. His movies make money and he is making far more money in movies than he did wrestling, without the crazy weekly schedule. And I don't think you are even factoring in DVD sales.

If you guys want a reliable source for movie numbers, check out Boxofficemojo.com.

I've been reading the discusssion about the Rock.. and the bottom line is.. you are only making big bucks if you are a big name like HHH, Undertaker, The Rock, etc. That being said, the salaries of these big names still barely compare to movie stars and professional athletes.

Also, please take in consideration that being in this profession takes a huge toll on your body. Aside from working the main televised shows, these guys still work house shows in between. These guys perform while injured too.. some just pop a few painkillers and tough it out. Why do you think the life expectancy of a wrestler is so low?

These guys use it as a stepping stone to get known and once they find a better opportunity, they jet with the quickness.

And these guys really don't have an offseason either. That makes the physical toll even greater. Unless they are REALLY injured, they don't take any time off to recover.

Yeah, those two guys were my favorites. I only occasionally watch WWE anymore. The storylines are getting worse and worse and there's very little attitude involved in wrestling anymore.

OK, let's drop the movie/wrestling thing. Rock makes me more money as a movie star. You use wrestling as a springboard into acting. HHH, hbk and the rest would give their left nut to be as famous as the Rock. I remember one year, Austin and the Rock presented at one of the movie awards and they were using their catch phrases and they got no reaction at all. I'd say only 10-15% of the population would recognize hbk or rob van dam.

Watched some ecw tonight. Man, they're selling this mcmahon thing. I think it's insulting to the crowd. We know he's not dead.

I saw that Melina (sp?) chick having lunch at Mark's a few weeks ago. She was pretty in person without all of that WWE skank gear.

BTW I quit watching after 8th grade when the Rock and Stone Cold left, not the same without those guys. those HHH/Austin/Vince/Rock feuds were great.

You stopped watching, yet you still know who Melina is?

the McMahon thing is a PATHETIC, DESPERATE RATINGS GRAB.

ive been reading that some news stations have reported it as a factual news story

Damn, does anyone else not realise how pathetic this is...

the WWE homepage has all this stuff about "respect for the Mcmahon family" yadayada.

what a joke they have become. this is sickness.

ok so it gets Vince off TV - but there would be better ways than these lengths surely

doesnt it strike anyone that a car-bombing of all things caused this?? Hello - crap like this is happening to US troops that the WWE is supposedly all into supporting!! Not to mention civilians!!

    Ahhh

So...would this thread have been started had that limo not been blown up? I'd say Vince got what he wanted...

The best part was the WWE flag flying at half staff at the WWE building. You notice, however, that the US Flag wasn't flying at half staff. That would have been tasteless, but fortunately the WWE knows where to draw the line.

Yeah, because a car bombing has NEVER been shown on TV. OMG, somebody car bombed Vince, he doesn't support our troops!!

Considering it WAS started prior to the limo blowing up, I'd say yes. :D

Vince will be back on television soon. This isn't a let's "write Vince out" move, it's setting up for something bigger. hell, the undertaker is still around.

I always liked the WWE, i stopped watching a few years ago. But since mid november.. my ssurgery having me not doing any sports up to now..ive been watching the WWE and i love it alot. It helps the time and weeks pass so quickly! I hope to watch the show, even after i remove the frame off my leg.
    Its pretty entertaining.

The explosion was pretty cool, but after wathcing the video 3 times i realised that it was a stunt..the trunk was open on the second angle..it was shut on the third and 4th.(if there was a 4th LOL) Anyways. i read on sites that the stunt happened sunday night and they just recorded adn palyed it on monday. They had an explosion saturday too i think(all for stunts) So yea pretty entertaining.

    Dumbass, you missed the point.

the car bombings shown on TV that you refer to are real , im not stating the WWE mustn't support troops (I couldnt care less either way) what i am saying is the WWE shouldve been more sensitive to the people truly effected by these incidents.

I would mark out like a three year old for an ice cream truck if they have a segment where Undertaker resurrects Vince's corpse.

Dumbass, you missed my point. I wasn't talking about car bombings on the news. What's the difference between the car bombing on WWE and a car bombing on the Sopranos, or a car bombing on any other network TV show? It's a fictional TV skit. McMahon will come back a few weeks later on TV, and the "car bombing" will be forgotten.

I supposed the producers of all those TV shows that have people getting shot aren't sympathetic to all the families of people that get shot.

are you sure you watch WWE. for the last year Mcmahon has used Eddie Guerrero's death as part of a storyline. there was Nicholi Volkov during the Cold War, the Iron Sheik, the Afgani wrestler he tried to push a couple of years ago. the whole history of WWE is full of insensitive storylines. Vinnie Mac doesn't give a ****.
