any link to the championship years is a welcome addition. lets get this done and then hire Hakeem to do be Yao's new mentor on a fulltime basis.
i'm pretty sure ellie will land this job. if/when he's signed, i will really like the way this staff is shaping up. adleman - philosophy turner - adleman protoge ellie - toughness / motivation needed - defensive coordinator
If you are a Rockets fan of long standing and a Houstonian, one would expect to be delighted to have Mario as as Assistant coach with the Houston Rockets.
Mario was coached by adelman and they seem to get along very well on the radio. I think they like eachother
Why do you spell Adelman's last name like that? It's in your signature too, which is why I'm asking...
why not the assistant coach we already had who worked with yao....if you look at our summer leauge team he coach we are undefeted lol.I think his name is tom tibuduex or something like that.I think he is probaly the real defensive genius behind jvg system.
I believe Yao specifically said he hoped Tom Thibodeau would be back as he's the guy that worked with Yao the most. But I think Tom's got aspirations to be a head coach. In any case, I think it would be good if we got him back due to his work with Yao - but I'm sure others would say that's exactly why we don't want him back, maybe have someone new work with Yao. In the ends its probably a moot point, I don't think he'll be back.
Why? Just because he was a Rocket. Does that mean everyone will be excited to have Chucky Brown one day. It just seems like the wrong reason to hire him. Now if he is capeble to do a good job as an assitant coach, then by all means bring him on! I don't know much of him as an assistant coach, So i'm indifferent about him coaching. I did, however, get a chance to meet and talk to him a few years back...real nice guy!
link Sikma became only the third Sonics player to grab 1,000 rebounds in a season and used his tenacity on the boards to help carry the team into the playoffs in his second season. He saved his best for the 1979 NBA Finals against Washington when he grabbed 17 rebounds per contest in Games Three, Four and Five and helped the Sonics capture the league title. When Sikma was traded to Milwaukee in 1986, he left the Sonics having registered more rebounds (7,729), blocked shots (705) and free-throws made (3,044) than any player in team history. He still holds the top spot on the rebounding and free-throws-made lists, and ranks second in blocked shots, third in points (12,034) and fourth in games played (715). ------------------------- he doesn't seem like he has a lot of coaching experience, but he's another guy who bring bring championship experience to our coaching staff. moreover, he would be a great mentor to yao.
There were questions about PEw's coaching 'success' under JVG yet he remains a darling of the Knicks' writers and fans to return to the NYK bench. Super Mario and nellie apparently are long time adversaries so he was fired, yet paid IIRC, by the Warriors after Nelson's hire.
I guess time heals all wounds. As I remember, Mario left on pretty contentious terms with the Rockets organization. The fences must've been mended.
