In other words, is he going to win the most improved players award for the 07-08 season?

    close to zero.

he should be better...he had a year to learn and work on his game, but i seriously doubt he would get improved player award.

I would guess about 350 to 1. There is about 450 players (30*15) and 150 (30*5) starters. He was in the bottom 50 last year, say he gets twice as good this summer, that makes him around 350.

    I guess I'm between :

Yes, he'll get some attention and win the MIP
No, but he'll become a solid rotation PG

I think he'll be very improved but I doubt he is in a position to win the MIP...not because he won't deserve it neccessarily...Maybe he'll make the most improvement but I think the MIP is more likely to go to someone at a higher level overall

e.g. say Span was ranked #450 in the league and he jumps to 250 , i think the MIP is more likely to go to a player that was ranked say 250 and jumps to 150 even though that is a "lesser" improvement in a way...

(numbers chosen randomly btw...just making a point)

I am not sure why he wants you to change your moniker but the Sunfish is a rare species that ****s from his mouth.

Until he finds a jumpshot, he won't amount to much.

I'd say less than a 20 percent chance.

I voted for my hope, that he will become a solid rotation PG. I think the odds are a lot better that he will suck again than that he will win MIP.

    Wow... shouldn't you also add:

He becomes an allstar, becomes MIP AND leads the Rockets to the NBA Championship.

    ?

He would be the missing piece that solves the Rockets' puzzle :D

I can't see him sucking again....

His 2pt shot % will almost certainly go up (this was a truly unusually bad shooting year for him in terms of the mid-range jumper...he still shot better than rafer from inside (not that that's very hard to do)) and I expect him to take less 3s and more shots he is comfortable with under Adelman's offense....

I also expect him to be more comfortable with his teammates with more PT and all but eliminating ball handling turnovers (he already had by the middle of the season) which would see his assist/to ratio to jump close to 2.5...maybe even 3...

Not MIP but i think a lot of people will be surprised by him... I did a calculation right after the end of the season to compare him to rafer and for all his TOs , bad shooting, limited PT etc. if you adjusted everything per 48 mins, counted the possessions that ended with rafer and the possessions that ended with span (all possessions, whether it was a FG made or lost, TO committed, offensive foul committed, FT gained, Assist etc) and used the teams 1.06 pts per possession, Rafer was only 2.5 pts better offensively over 48 minutes. (6.1 pts more with 3.35 possesions more used)....
Span actually had more points per shot than Rafer (due to the amount of fouls he gained and his FT shooting)

Obviously it's not that simple because a TO leads to an advantage of the other team as far as the flow of the game is concerned (apart from the obvious possible fast break advantage) but I bet that 2.5 pts is not as high as most people would think....

I think VSpan more will get more PT and be part of the rotation under Adelman but he won't win MIP.

Will he have a breakout year? I'd say, 5 to 1.

Will it be next year? I'd say, 50 to 1.

First you'd have to define "breakout year".

There are those on this board that think anything less than 15 ppg and 8 assists won't be much of a breakout.

There are still others that will think he's broken out after every jumper he makes.

I'm hoping he has a good year. If he makes it into the starting lineup, then all the better. But it all starts with being able to hang onto the ball and hitting jumpers. Without that, he may as well go back to Greece. Here's to hoping the guy sticks around and have some of the skills he's purported to have translate to the NBA.

My dream would be for all of the Vspan fans to get a chance of pulverizing him at horse....which may not be that hard.......and then for all his fans to post "Vspan sucks dudes--I easily beat him at HORSE!!! for heavens sake. Dude he cannot shoot. Man what did I ever see in this guy."
