Any of you guys buy a pool table and regret it? As in, it sits there doing nothing but taking up space?

I can't believe I've been debating this "projector screen vs. gameroom" decision for the past 2.5 years. :D

We used to have a pool table when I was living with my parents during high school. When we first got it, we played it all the time, but after a year or so it only was played when company came over.

In my current house I went with big screen and surround sound instead. My wife and I use that almost every day.

Yeah, my decision would be a lot easier if I didn't already have a 42" plasma downstairs with a 7.1 surround. I figure if I'm getting a projector and big screen, all I get over what I already have is a bigger screen. I guess my console gaming would be cooler. :) But a pool table is something I don't already have and it would be a lot cheaper, sooo... back to the thinking.

You know how much it costs to replace felt? A hooker would probably be cheaper. Damn, dude. Get real.

I have one and play every week. I've had it about a year now. I refelted the surface and rails myself. I bought the table used for dirt cheap and refurbished it.

I bought a pool table and rarely use it, but have no regrets. It's a good table and I could always sell it for a decent amount, if I needed to.

I would screw on it, unless I had the cloth cover on it and maybe a comforter to pad my butt a little. You have to make sacrifices when a lady is driving. Otherwise, she can bend over onto the table and I can slap that ass.

DoD I know home audio is a vice of yours, but you need to diversify and get something else.. You already have a nice setup, why not have two different things to play with? The more options you have at house to entertain the better IMO..

My fiancés parents have a few different tables in their game room and we use them all the time with the pool table being used the most… I never got around to putting up my own pool table when I lived in the ‘burbs, but it was next on my list before I had to move back into the city..

Maybe something like a pool table, but different.

Maybe a nice darts set and a shuffle board table. Kind of game roomish.

Or a cool set up with an actual arcade game cabinet.

A vice? Nah. I really have no vices except reading about technology and buying computer parts. The receiver I have now is the first one I've ever owned (if you don't count a bookshelf system I bought back in 1990 that died). The speakers I use are cheap, but sound good. I really don't go for gadgets much, but a big screen (92" and bigger) admittedly is something I've always wanted. The point you made is exactly why I was leaning towards something else - the pool table. I already have the audio/video in my family room, so why not get something else upstairs, I guess.

Maybe I've made my decision... hmm... thanks. :)

Yeah, if I go with the pool table, the room will be a gameroom. It's not huge or anything but it's pretty big (20' x 20'). I've even thought about using it as a Rockets-themed room. Thanks.
