63 wins....with a Finals appearance (if we pick up Lewis or Artest) 57 wins with the minor pick ups and draft picks 54 wins with the same team 1. Yao will probably miss 15-20 games. 2. T-Mac will miss about 5-12 games. 3. We won't be that good at first maybe slightly above .500 4. Our defense will be in the top 5 or 6, but it won't be as stifling as it was with JVG. 5. Our offense may be top 10 or top 5 next year. 6. I think we will be 3rd seed next year with a new roster. 7. Yao numbers will be similar to this season, but slightly better 27-10 rebs a game, he won't drop off any. T-Mac scoring average will fall to about 21 or 20 a game with the new third scorer at 17 to 19 a game. 8. We won't struggle as much with teams over .500 and we will probably break even in those games. 9. I think we will eventually be better team than The Mavs and the Suns, but I don't see us getting past S.A. for some reason.
51-58 wins, i think this team will do good, its not like they are goin to forget to play defense, adelman adjusts. let wait and see
We rehire JVG midseason as an assitant coach. With a potent Adelman offense and a smothering JVG defense, the sky is the limit... 54-28
Why would anyone think the Rockets would have any more wins under Adelman than VG with major roster chnages? If it's the same team? It the same record. EDIT: WITHOUT roster changes.
I don't think the Rockets will be the same team. There is tremendous pressure on Moneyball & Crew to make changes -- whether they will be beneficial changes remains to be seen.
when larry brown took over the pistons who fired a perennial 50 game winner and coach of the year, thier record didn't improve much (just four games) but they won the championship. when phil jackson took over the lakers who also fired perennial 50 game winner and coach of the year, thier record didn't improve drastically either. from 61 wins in harris' last full season, not counting the lockout to 67 in jackson's first year. the major difference being, they won the championship. now i compare JVG to harris, and carlisle. i think they are all along the same line as coaches. all known for thier defense, all but gundy won coach of the year (gundy was robbed this season). all of them are 50 win coaches who can't get it done in post season. adleman is a few fings short of being compared to jackson or brown but lets face it, anyone could've coached the lakers or the bull stwo at least one championship. i don't hold rings or lack there of against coaches. adleman could've won a championship had it not been for some of the greates teams of all time (bulls, lakers, bad-boy pistons, etc...) now maybe our record doesn't improve much next year, maybe along the lines of 52-57, but we will certainly have history on our side to surprise the world with a championship.
But we won't have the same team we have right now, we won't be totally healthy (no team ever is), and I'll be shocked if we do keep Bonzi.
You in all honesty look at a starting team which includes Chuck Hayes, Rafer Alston and Shane Battier and you're thinking world championship? Adelman was hired on as a coach not a miracle worker. They are again a 1st round exit without major tweaking.
I am hoping for 50 to 54. I do not think that any rocket team has ever had 60 wins, and this is not the best rocket team of all time.
The main thing is healthl. If we stay healthly we can win probably 50+-60 games. But you know that wins in the playoffs are more important. So I hope we'll get Western Conference Finals next year
well maybe not in ALL honesty. do you really believe that adleman can't win more games than JVG? i know there will be an adjustment period. i don't think the win total will be far greater than this years. however, once in the playoffs, i do believe in all honesty that we will be able to get to the second round at least....depending on this summers roster moves we could get to the conferece finals. now if you agree that with adleman and some tweaking we have a good chance at the conference finals, then you believe we have a good chance to beat either the mavs, spurs, or suns. if we can beat any of those teams in a 7 game series then we have a chance at the championship. as i said...it all depends on this summers roster moves.
For clarity, we need to rephrase you question... Q: Do I believe Adelman can take Van Gundy's roster and win more games? A: No, I don't. The logic is two-fold. First, every team in the WC is going to be better...Gasol isn't going to be injured at the start, the Hornets aren't likely to have as many injuries including Peja only playing about 10 games, Kobe will whine enough that the Lakers take a big risk like J. O'Neal or Garnett, the Sonics will have Ray Allen back and add Durant, the Rockets struggled mightily with the athleticism of the Blazers who now have Oden, going 24-6 vs the EC is going to be difficult to replicate.... Secondly, you're asking a roster containing a huge number of spot up shooters to suddenly move without the ball, create back picks and do things other than stand at the 3 point line while McGrady and Yao ISO. The bench is a 41 yo backup Center, Juwan and Luther Head. Try to envision any one of those players on the Kings in their hay day....frightening. It's just my opinion and all of us here have them. The Rockets are in need of a severe overhaul towards athleticm and faster transition tempo. Without a large infusion, it's a repeat of the past season. The current roster has too many offensive liabilities for Adelman to change much of anything. If you don't understand that...or worse, if the Rockets' management doesn't undertand this...there will be some very disappointed people around here. The good news is that Les gets it and Morey may not be too far behind.
