I like Wonder's music better, but there's no denying that Brown opened the doors for people like Wonder.
Hard to say. Stevie Wonder is a better musician, a true genius, but James Brown was a better entertainer.
Stevie is incredible. I remember watching video clips of him singing when he was much much younger and it was incredible how he could belt out the songs he did. He's probably one of my favorite singers of all time. James Brown was great in his own way, but I'd pick Stevie.
James had many dance moves and a few good songs I liked. Stevie... well... Stevie had many songs I liked and a few moves. Mostly from the neck up.
I personally voted for JB, but that should not take away from SW's greatness....he is/was great....I just prefer JB. so after Stevie wins this poll, lets put him up against Ray Charles.
JB the originator and great entertainer. SW took it to a whole new level with his voice. Just go back and listen to his stuff and it still stands the test of time. Just simply amazing vocals and performances
Mmmm, its not that easy. JB arranged all of his stuff, played organ, was the musical director of an incredible g. His singing is incredible - it might be a wash, or JB might be better.
Apples and Oranges. James Brown was a greater dancer and showman. Stevie is a better musician and writer. Neither was greater than the other, IMHO. They are both great, and I would rank both very near the top.
Hehe. I like both a lot but I voted for Stevie as I feel he had the more classic albums (plus his stuff seems easier to find than James Brown's).
Not even close. Wonder had an album streak from "Music of My Mind" to "Hotter Than July" that I think is only rivaled by the Beatles, Steely Dan (only because I'm a freak, though) and Miles Davis. Even Dylan sputtered out before "Blood On the Tracks."
