I read a thread from a Taiwan BBS (ptt.cc) created by one of the working staff of USAPPCC, which was about Yao and this event, with a link to many interesting photos and notes. The author mentioned a few interesting things: 1. Yao said he's gonna get married within a year 2. The author had an impression that Yao's a mama's boy from his conversation with his mother over the phone 3. What's this all about ? Never read/heard about him in Chicago now. If he is currently in Chicago, probably he's there for another prognosis for his shoulder. According to what's reported today in the Chinese websites, he has yet to return to China, still awaiting the final report from the doctors whether he needs a shoulder surgery to repair the tendon/soft tissues there in his rotator cuff. If they decide to go ahead with the surgery, he will be sidelined for at least 6 months.
This is not his girl friend. I think his girl friend will be mad about this photo, taken in a hotel room, most probably Yao Ming's hotel room.
You're right that those pictures were taken during the award ceremony of USAPPCC in San Francisco, and not in Chicago. But olliez could be talking about something we don't know. Maybe a friend of his/her spotted Yao Ming and his girl friend in Chicago ??
On top of that sitting on his bed. We all know what happened the last time an NBA player had a girl in his hotel room.

So on the day the Chinese national team arrived Dallas to start a series of exhibition games and the NBA summer league, Yao Ming arrived home. Yao Ming flew back to Shanghai via San Francisco tonight (June 30, 2007), and was greeted at the airport by Ye Li, who had come back to China about a week ago. Yao Ming will stay in Shanghai for a few days, and will fly to Beijing. He had been invited by the Chinese Olympics Organizing Committee to participate in a series of pormotional activities relating to 2008 Olympics. He will skip all the national team's tournaments in USA, and will rejoin the national team when they complete the US tour. And it is rumoured that he will move up his wedding from August to July.
im worried about that shoulder...so anytime he has surgery, if its 6 months off hes going to miss parts of the season...we play until end of june...then he misses 2 months of the next season...very worrisome...
